I actually had to end up calling the maker of the game and they sent me a link to my e-mail. I downloaded it and I was off and playing.

I just installed Vista and ran into the O/S Privileges error. Went to punkbuster.com, downloaded and ran this:

http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

No problems getting in servers since.

ok so this worked for bf2142 but it wont work for bf2, i tried both ways and still get the same punkbuster message. im running windows vista home premium 64bit, thanks for any info and or solutions you may have!

i had the same problem and saw this thread in the forum for hope for a fix ..i tried everything sugested and nothing seemed too work. but i found a solution.

after doing a lot of reading and seeing that punkpuster had fixed the insufficent os priveledge error i was scratching my head wondering why mine kept saying it..vista problem ? no ,if u have the game it comes with an older version of punkbuster ,even the copy i got which was from ea's download site came with the older version of punkbuster.

download the file u need for ur os ,in this case it will be windows

add a game (battlefield 2) (i cant confirm this works on 2142 but im guessing it will)

navigate to the bf2.exe in the battlefield folder

and update.

this will update punkbuster to the new version which is fixed

run bf2 as normal ..fix0rd :thumbsup:

Ok I did all of this and I don't get kicked anymore, but I get major lag no matter what server I'm on. Video settings are all low and I have a 10M connection...
