How do i get evidence of hacking to get a GUID ban?

Let's say someone on my team is hacking. They know where the enemy is even without spotting or UAV.

How can I get the proof of this to earn them the ban they rightfully deserve?

I visited the punkbuster website but the material on there doesn't seem to mention this.

No UAV in the sky, sure, but the problem is that you never know if the guy's commander 1.) manually spotted you, or 2.) is looking right at you in zoom mode.

You don't. Seriously, it's not your job at all to decide who's hacking and not.

As far as I know, PB bans on actual cheats detected while running the game, not on user submitted "this is fishy" reports.

Also, you don't even need uav or spotting to know where the enemies are. Sounds and experience give ppl ability to make correct educated guesses on location of enemies, even if it looks like wallhacking to bystanders.

As long as we can't get true first-person view of player (including all the little things he sees and hears), I don't think determining whether somebody cheats or not is something players should do, unless it's really *really* blatant case. If you really want to do something, try to get server admins to get a pb screenshot from player in question.

However, in my opinion, server admins are free to ban whoever they like with or without (subjective) evidence, as long as the ban spans just their servers.

That is why i asked how to get evidence as i don't expect anyone to get banned simply because of my word.

IMHO a hacker deserves a full GUID ban and as an honest player i think it's my obligation to help that happen.

Why do you care so much about one player that you're probably not going to play with again?

1- i'm honest and he ruins the game not only for me but for all the other honest players
2- i probably WILL play with him again.

If your attitude is "i'm too lazy to do the right thing" well that's sad for you but i will at least try.

You can't. EA does not include any tools that can help you weed out hackers, or to spectate someone in hopes that they are just better than you - no spectator mode (missing UAV info in spec mode), no first person spec, etc.

At least in Counterstrike, if you're getting wtf-pwned by someone, you could spec them for a bit and perhaps decide their skill is getting them kills, or by watching them closely you can see cheats at work. BF2 does not allow you to do that at all.

This makes it easier for cheaters to get away with it longer, especially the paying cheaters, who subscribe to programs that are constantly tested against, and bypassing PunkBuster.

In the end, all you'll have is your 'educated' suspicion about the player, but that's about it. You won't be able to prove it to anyone, and experience shows the 'hacker' will deny it to the bitter end <See R2 post about hacker gets owned>

I screwed up with my post, forgot about the PB screenshot initially. However, that's the *only* thing that's even somewhat accessible to player. I personally think it still isn't players job to handle cheaters.. the problem is, you might be level-headed and handle it fair and objectively, but most of people become such goddamned zealots over catching cheaters, that it ruins the game for them, for their victim (who rarely is actually a cheater) and whoever happens to be in the same server as them.

IMO, false accusations are WAY bigger problem in the game, than actual rare cheaters. And the accusers ALWAYS genuinely believe they're absolutely certain that somebody is on the hax.

Anyway, as said, PB screenshot is 100% objective way to catch cheaters, and if you have the energy and motivation to collect names and get screenshots, go ahead. If the server owners have irc-channel, that's probably the easiest and fastest way to get said screenshot. If you see the guy playing, drop by their channel and ask around if anybody is awake to grab a screenshot.

Ummm no, any player can get an official PB ss server is only good for getting an individials view of a SS and the fact that a player screen shot can be spoofed in photoshop or similiar program. Best thing to do is get mulitple SS's and using Fraps.

That may be true but it doesn't change the fact that hackers DO exist and if you have any doubt of that, you can find recent threads in this forum that prove it.

Still i'm not naming anyone so you can't say i'm making a false accusation. I DID speak to a server admin, who hopefully will investigate, and if i'm wrong then no harm was done.

I personally think it still isn't players job to handle cheaters..

If i turn a blind eye to hackers just like everyone else does then i am encouraging them to continue.

Hackers ruin the fun of the game, even if they're on my side, and in my opinion "just don't play with them" is not an acceptable response when it means I can't enjoy my favourite server at the whims of a cheater.

How do i specify which player screenshot to get? follow the command with playerslot like Xodus said?

If i am following a teammate in 3rd person mode (to record them with fraps) does that prevent me from being idle-booted after 1 minute?

Who said he was? That's exactly my point, my boy. :)

Listen, as commander, when I do a scan and see a lone enemy near someone on my team, I'll manually spot him--there's no sense in wasting the UAV for just one guy. That enemy grunt has no way of knowing that I spotted him and placed him on my teammate's mini-map... none.

If my teammate is mini-map aware and stops to pursue this enemy, I'll keep spotting the guy every thirty seconds until he's dead. That's my job.

Now, are there people out there that use hacks? Of course. I'm just saying that from your perspective, there is no way to know for sure, and to instantly scream, "Haxor!!!" just because you got bested is not always the best course of action.

Well that is a tough one play another round and see if there is any unusall behavor in the person otherwise maby it was a lucky guess.
