How long does it take to load a map?

This is mostly a client side issue, but it seems that it takes a long a$$ time to load a map, and it seems that it may be due to my lack of disk space (342mb left)

and yeah im getting a new laptop, a dell XPS M1710 OOOHHH YAAA

45 seconds to a minute. That's about max with a semi-nice system on full graphics with 2 gigs of ram and plenty of HDD space (40 gigs or so left).

I'm sure this question has been answered before. Use search, and you might find a thread with some ways to shorten that time...I think I saw one a while back with specific information.

45 secs. Ive got some special cable between the HD and processor (so im lead to believe)

Loading a map + verifying client data usually takes anywhere from 2-4 minutes for me, which isn't an extremely long time but does feel like forever.

My PC is:
AMD Athlon XP 2800
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X800 XL (AGP 128mb)


I need more RAM and a better processor, but those things are over in dreamland.

My PC is:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1600PRO (PCI-e 256 MB)
80GB Hidachi SATA HDD

And it still takes me a significant amount of time to load the map (and I've set some options to low/medium). But usually I'm like the among the first players to spawn in a 64 server though.

In some/most instances i get on as the first player, really depending on the location of the server. And I can assure you i don't have a gaming machine,but my vaio does just fine; well every setting is on low,that may have something to do with it. I dream of the day i can see the full textures, shadows and colors of a game. One advantage of not seeing shadows, is the ability to see everything, even the players supposedly hiding. And congratulations on the new hardware, hope that Dell does it for you.

I my case loading a map takes me about 40 seconds and verifying client data about 8sec. I have now 1,5 GB DDRAM, P4 2.6Ghz, Seageate 160gb 7200.10 with 40% of disk usage. When I had 512mb of ram(procc. and graphs same) the map was loading about 5-6 minutes and when i was playing I have lags(loading all the map) for 2 next minutes. This 1gb of RAM help me very much D

it takes me around 45 seconds to 1 minute,

i don't know why its so fast
