ridiculous ping

hello guys, getting crazy ping here.....i am patched at 1.41 and i will choose a server which has about 70 ping or so and when i join i will get about 70 and then all of a sudden it'll jump to 400 back down to 80 then to 250 back to 300 and then stay at around 200 - 300...i have all background task off....lime wire off anti virus off absolutely EVERYTHING off.only thing on is windows firewall....should i turn that off?

I have been getting these so called "lagg spikes" lately. Just try and find a really stable server.

dont recommend turning off ur firewall.

r u on a lan where other computers are sharing the internet? my lag spikes comes from my sister's computer streaming music and other stuff

and id do wat mooby said and find a server thats usually stable/close by home

Make sure your not downloading anything or running any programs.(like Limewire, but don't shut down programs that your computer needs)

thanks guys...i guess the last 4 games have just been really laggy because of a bad host or something cause i joined a 5th gamer and my pins was right on 35! thanks for the help guys!

Host stability is an issue! Also if your on cable internet the number of people up and and down the street that log on and are using the net can drastically effect your ping!!!!

omfg i cant belive this! after a couple of good rounds last night getting 35 pingi was convinced ti was fixed but today...i would click on a server with 75 ping and it will spike to about 500 sometime even a 1000 wtf is going on all the servers are like this. not ONE doesnt spike. can it possibly be my patch. and YES all backround tasks are exited and everything so what can it be??????

by anychance have you exceeded your peak time download limit?

if you do they screw with your bandwidth, usually increase's your ping,

its something that has been introduced in the UK dont know if other countrys have picked it up

idk but i REALLY want this fixed i havent played bf2 in like 4 months and this **** happens.UGH! i mean 500 ping? WTF?!?!!!!!! btw i have avast, firewall on, but nothing else,should i re patch?

BF2 is the buggiest game I've ever played. The 1.41 patch is crap, crap, and more crap. But the game is a blast when it's working. When it's working. I can hardly connect at all when I use wireless. Can't connect to the EA server and it freezes my computer. Fun stuff Dice, thanks.

Your ping depends on your upload speed more then your donload speed anyway.

I had a ping btw 20 and 1000 at one time. After I bypassed my dlink 604 router and connected directly to my cable modem I was back to an average of about 20

mines around 170 it is acting up
