Sniper Stats

Well I've been reading posts on this forum for the past year or so. I was just wandering what do you look for when someone says they are good snipers...?

I have around 39 hours as a sniper and 28 hours with the sniperrifle

my K/D rate with the sniperclass is 1.4124

my K/D rate with the sniperrifle is 1.3329 and with an accuracy of 50.70 %

Keep in mind the first couple of month I really sucked, and that have affected my score ever since. I just keep reading about people saying stuff like "m3 0wn d4 sn1p4r" but I rearly bump into good snipers on servers.

Well, there is a guy on this forum who has a sniper rifle K/D of 16:1. I think that is considered really good.

I would consider myself "average" at sniper with 24 hrs and a K/D of 2.82 (http://formitron.com/Stats.aspx?pid=43518622). I think to be considered "Good" you need at least a K/D of 5:1. Also, I would focus more on sniper rifle K/D instead of the class K/D because there are plenty who just use the kit to spam claymores. Just my IMO

Anyway, I never look for skill in stats, since they often are results of padding and such.

I suppose most people naturally assume that all stats are padded, and all the times they've died are the result of an unfair third party advantage or exploit of the game mechanics.

im about 1:1 with every kit but now when i play im almost always 2:1.

Here are mine//bf2s.com/player/72141283/, I've got 98 hours as sniper, making about a third of my whole time playing bf2.And accounts for 36% of my total kills. But i have 1:1, which seems really bad, god, im really surprised at how bad that is. I would think it would be 3:1 now. Man do i suck. I'm really bummed out now. I thought i was better.

sniper stats are the hardest to judge. I won't say I'm the best, but I'm pretty darn good. I started out playing sniper just for fun, and have a k:d of about 1.5, but on average I go 5:1 every round.... it just gets harder to change your stats when you have thousands of kills/deaths to

But I've found a huge difference in just say sitting on a map Sniping and Sniping at Karkand on InfOnly :laugh: . So easy to rack kills in Karkand Sniping.

a good kdr only gives partial info

why? you can have some noob who only stays at the outskirts of the map and for the entire round have 5 kills and 0 deaths........and then repeat the same thing for the next round and the round after......

to get a better idea of someone's ability to help out his team, you also need to take the number of kills by the sniper rifle and divide it by the time of holding the rifle. that will give you better idea of how productive he is.......or you can look at the scores per min ratio also

as someone mentioned earlier, looking at kdr on the kit doesn't tell you how good of sniper he is since it can easily be affected by vehicle use, commander use, or claymore spam.

^Not really, just depends. Karkand Sniping is pretty easy imo, you can run around and use Snipers in close combat, rack up a ton of kills, especially with the SVD, or bolt action then finish off with pistol if you don't get a headshot.

P.S. presto2 your claywhore kills are a disgrace.

stats dont help too much in determining real skill. my sniper kdr is lower than some (2.56) and my accuracy is medium (50.5%) but that does not mean im bad. im just more of an active sniper than most. i run around with the kit, i dont find a good hiding spot and wait (like a real sniper would), i move around the map with my squad. if you compaired my kills per min (1.33) with the sniper rifle it would be higher than most of the people with high kdrs. that doesnt make me better than them or the other way around, just different.

I totally agree with you. When i play sniper, sometimes I just sit on a spot and rack up kills because im bored and sometimes I play offensive sniping. Theres different ways to play sniper but theres none real or false way to snipe, everyone has his style. And thats wht makes the game interesting. :)
