X1950XT low performance problem

I fitted my new x1950xt yesterday and straight away turned every setting possible to high which was great in game averaging 70 - 80 fps.

I then had to format my drive and have since installed it all again and am getting really low performance on the same servers and same maps as yesterday with the exact same settings talking 30 - 50 fps here in the same places.

I have tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing but this didnt work, though interestingly if i drop my settings in game I get even lower fps in the 20's regularly.

This card shouldn't be perfroming like this surely everyone that seems to have it on the internet are running everything maxed out fine.

Have I missed something? I can't figure it out as it was perfect yesterday.

What other PC specs?

What OS?

Do you have a dual core? If on XP, you need to apply the hotfixes. I know that certain video cards actualy perform ****tier on lower resolutions, maybe that's the problem?

I am using XP Pro 32bit my system specs are:

Pentium D 820
Gigabyte GA 965GM-S2 motherboard
Radeon X1950XT
2gb Ballistix Tracer DDR2 667
250Gb Hitachi Sata drive
Sound Blaster Audigy SE
550w PSU

I am running the game on 1280 x 1024 using cat 7.2 but have also tried 6.12

Try a dual core fix. That CPU is bottlenecking the entire system btw.

Thanks for the advice will try the hotfix now and see what happens.

I know the CPU is the weakest part of my pc, looking to upgrade it to core duo asap :)

I tried the hotfix for dual core cpus but this made no difference, I even tried overclocking my CPU up to 3.33ghz to see if I could releive the bottleneck but this made no difference either but did in 3dmark05.

I upgraded to this x1950xt from a 7600GT which is nowhere near the spec of my new card but the 7600GT is out performing it.

Does anyone have anymore suggestions, what CCC settings and drivers are x1950xt users having their success with?
