Probably modding anything in the zip files will get you kicked.

i tried it and it said that i couldnt have any tweaked files but all i did was put my name on a gun

It's to avoid hacks, like you making the enemy sniper kit flourescent orange.

As Panzaman said, while graphics changes might seem harmless they can be used to cheat. Changing enemy soldier skins to bright orange or making walls transparent for example. About the only useful thing you can change without triggering this is the localization text.
