Here's a call out to all Assault fans - yo!
And for those of you yet to be converted - a few tippettes. And pleeze - all them noobs with 'So what?' type comments - fuggeddaboudit.
1. Learn how to use the grenade launcher.
PROS: One hit kill. Good for softening up too. Takes out groups. Great range. Long accurate lobs over defensive positions.
CONS: Doggarn slow reload. Only 4 nades. TK prone, or simply suicidal at short range (may be a con tho...!).
So stick close to Support dudes, or just hang back at a supply crate and pop away. Also - great to use for hostiles in good position - just pop round the corner and let it go, reload back under cover.
2. Great basic weps. Great G3.
Ok - I just can't get the hang of the M16A1, but many favour it over my true love - the AK. As I've said before [Any MEC in Da House?], the AK rocks max when jumpin or being jumped, and has reasonable 1 shot accuracy for long range.
Pretty often - after using the nades or emptying a clip at some bulletproof dude, the pistol is a fast draw and works a treat at all ranges.
The G3 is the only wep which improves accuracy on full auto. However, you can snipe quite snipily with it on 1 shot using iron sights. As ever, the tap-tap-tap on left-mouse works wonders too. Frankly, when I'm miffed, I light me a cherootie and choose the G3 - the rackage is delicious.
Haven't had much chance to use the last unlock (whassisname? F2000?), only when I've accidentally picked it up. However, I'm looking forward to a simpler nade-bullets combo.
3. PRO: You've a bit of armour, but ain't luggin behind like Support.
When nearing empty on nades and even when hit once I always call for Ammo or Medic. This gives my lovely team-mates time to give it up - and we all know how long that can be with unteamly mates....
4. Assault reams.:p
CON: You can't pad the points like certain classes. I think Spec Ops comes lower than Assault on that point.
PRO: BUT - once you got the class nailed you're in the thick of every scrap, and rackage is goooood. This means you're helping your team and your sedentary cardio workout!
Use all cover and shadow you can. Sprint only across open space - keep some sprint left, regardless. Never know when you need to hightail it.
Well - that's about it. Assault works on the KISS principle, dunnit? And now I've flagged the Assault, I await the Battery of abuse most posts get....
See you in hell!
