how do you play on modded maps?

Download the map, and place it in your EA Games/Battlefield 2/levels folder.

Nothing. Just install it and you should be ready yo go.

Make sure you're patched up to v1.41 and are downloading the latest client version (could you link me to the download link you are using?).
