    Another mic topic.....

I searched the forum found some info tried it out and came out dry. I am NEW to BF2 and this forum.

My headset works just fine when I test with my computer, and can record. I enter BF2 try the headset test and I get nothing, exited it tried again and it picked up and was working, then it just quit after I tried to test again.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

If you are talking about the mic test in the Options(Audio) page, that has never worked for me ever since patch 1.2 or thereabouts. :)

Just run the BF2VoiceSetup.exe mic calibration program again and you'll be fine. (It's in the same directory as BF2.exe.)

thanks for that, I have been jacking around with my sys lately too, and was wondering about that file and where it was at.

It is Zach that handed out the hookup.

Another thing I have noticed, is when I start BF2 sometimes it will select "Mic2 Select" in my audio options. If you go to volume control and click advanced under mic, there will be to boxes one for Mic2 Select the other for MIC boost. For somereason it will check the Mic2 Select, and I will have to minimize the game and uncheck it.

I've got a similiar problem as you. If I uncheck the "Mute Microphone" box and check the "microphon boost +20dB" box, as soon as I start up BF2 they get switched back. So I have to minimize and change it another time, to get my mic working.

I have also had a mic issue. It does not test in setup, but it works fine when I am in a Squad or Squad Leader, but last night no one could hear me when I was Commander??? They could see the icon that I was talking but no one heard my voice. So I checked everything out (mute button was not on), Mic settings in Windows were at MAX, Platronic settings mic on full and tested fine, Sound set to Platronics headset instead of sound card, all seemed well. And it bloody works for squad talk, just not when I am a Commander.....any hints, tips, suggestion???

                  Thanks!

I can only put my mic at 1%. If I go any higher than that, it doesn't work. I think that's threshold setting or something. Input and output volume I can max out.

I believe the mute microphone setting, mutes the sound through your speakers and not the mic itself.
