    Sound Issue with z5300e Speakers

Hi there! I have the Logitech z5300e speakers and a Creative x-fi sound card. I play Counter Strike Source and Battlefield 2. The sound is amazing on both, but it sounds a little odd in BF2.

It's hard to explain, but it's like i can't hear anything that I'm looking straight at in the game. I have to looking to the left or right of something to hear it. When i'm driving a boat and looking forward, I can't hear the engine at all, but when i turn around and look at it, I hear it perfectly. This goes with all vehicles. I have to look to the side to hear them.

In the jets when I have an outside view, I can only hear the jet when i turn to the left or right. When I am going in a straight line I can't hear it at all.

This may not sound like too big of an issue but it drives me crazy. I hear a enemy tank or something coming close but I have to look all around to find it. And before I know it the tank is right beside me and launches me 200 ft into the air.

Anyone know what the problem is here? I have all the newest drivers installed and i have my speakers set to 5.1 sound and they are in "GAME MODE." Thanks!

i'll take a stab--try going back to the basics. set it for 5.1 (or are they 7.1?), no effects, no CMSS, etc. Go to BF2, set it for hardware acceleration, set it for high (not zoober-higher), and see if you get good positional sound (you should!). Once you establish the settings for good positional sound, then start tweaking the quality of the sounds with all the gee-whiz fancy-schmancy doohickeys that x-fi can do that my 2zs won't.

      oops. I didn't sound bitter, did I?

      Good luck.

as mega said, check your game sound setup, im also guessing that you have gone into the sounds check in your xfi to make sure all your speakers are working properly and in the correct position
