Monkmonkman sniper IS actually useful for picking off soldiers long range and we also help the team by laying claymores to block paths...now that I can ignore that bunnyhopping shi*, as others have suggested find the center of the crosshairs. Also take into account it is inaccurate. However I absolutely LOVE the crosshairs on that thing. It helps me fire faster instead of waiting (because the crosshairs find their way onto peoples heads faster) and often scores a kill.

You could always buy a decent gaming mouse to improve your accuracy, it's just a question of aiming at the guy's head for a one shot kill. Personally I think you should get SF and its unlocks, discover the joys of the SF sniper rifle, spend more time running around street maps with your m16 and SA80 in semi auto mode and you'll realize the m95 isn't really worth the hassle... I get far more pleasure out-sniping people with assault rifles in semi auto than playing Enemy at the Gates with them, but maybe that's just me.

Most deaths by claymores will be revived, and since the sniper is not super reliable at super long ranges, if you snipe someone, they will most likely be revived too. ALSO, If you notice, the team with the more snipers is ALWAYS the team that looses.

I Love the M95!!! I have a Razer Copperhead 2000dpi mouse and I am lethal at long range with the M95. You just have to get used to the chunky crosshairs, but once you are, with a good mouse, you can become a killing machine. I still am not good with headshots at half the map away but 2 normal shots with the M95 and your enemy is dead anyway. I usually get a lot of kill assists too for long range shots, because you drop them to like 2-4 points of death with the first shot and then one of your teammates sneezes on them to kill them and you get the kill assist.

            Keep on Sniping.

              Re: M95 Help?

I think Monkman is talking about organized play, as opposed to everybody else who is talking about pubbing? I would imagine that having a medic or AT would be much more useful for an organized game - a lot of assault rifles are just as accurate as the sniper rifles up to like 100m.... I can't count the number of times I've missed a shot only to have the guy whip around and pop me in the face twice from 100m out. I also can't count the number of times I've missed a 200m+ shot or had the guy be revived after

Sniping is a ton of fun in a pub, and you can be moderately useful because everybody is pretty much running around doing their own thing. I'm sure Monkman knows what he's talking about as far as organized play goes though, and I'm sure having another medic, AT, support, whatever would be way more helpful than a kill here or there.

I suppose a really really really good sniper would be good to have, but because of lag, deviation, etc, there is kind of a limit on how good you can be.

Killing an enemy in an AA which was about to blow up a chopper that was giving ground support fire, killing an enemy specops that was planting a C4 pack on a teammates tank, killing an enemy that was about to cap out a flag with nobody of your team able to reach it in time, covering teammates capping flags ... yeah I can see why a kill here or there doesnt go a long way

I still have to reach my limit with my first account which has been improving since the day I started it.

                  Re: M95 Help?

I'd respond to that but maybe we should keep this discussion to the other thread so we don't derail 2 perfectly good ones?

                  Ah, I can't resist. I'll respond anyways

I see your point, and it's a good one. Based on that, I would say it would be nice to have a couple snipers on any given map in a large pub game.... However in an organized setting where it's like 5v5 or 10v10 or whatever they do, every player counts. Having 1 more medic could make all the difference in a situation like that. I think you would need people out actively capping flags and moving around to keep up with the combat.

In a 32/64 player pub snipers can be very helpful, and surely it's a good thing to have a couple lying around to help, especially to defend flags and spot vehicles trying to make it behind enemy lines. They are very effective at this because they tend to be removed from combat and have a better view of the big picture.

If I only have 5 people on my team though, I don't want one of them off in the middle of nowhere, I want them on the front line with me helping me cap flags and move together as a unit. Then again I don't have any experience in organized BF2 so I'm pretty much just theorizing :p

                    Re: M95 Help?

Well thats offcourse the difference. In pubs you get all classes if it is not IO. In scrims/matches you usually get Medics and Supports in my own experience.
I did play a couple of matches as Sniper btw. That was on Kubra Dam, because you can cover a lot of ground on that map being on either flank of the Dam. Had one of my finest moments when I held back a crew of 4 trying to make it across the topside of the Dam. The SVD really ownz in that situation.
But for the close up fighting you get in matches the Medic gun on single action owns enough for me :)

Atm I only Pub since I dont have the time to be really dedicated to a team and scrim a lot on the side to practice routines. In pubs I still get the satisfaction from snipering and helping out my team whenever I can by performing the aforementioned stuff and other things :)

                      Re: M95 Help?

First of all: At any distance try to aim at the upper third of the enemies helmet, so you get the headshot even if you suffer bullet drop. You will at least get him to two bars of health if you hit the body only.
Really long range shots requiere aiming above of the target which is really difficult and needs a lot of practice...

Second: Snipers can be really usefull. Specially on IO maps. I have seen so many "aggressive" snipers that engage the enemy and I've been killed a lot by them
Having a sniper around makes the enemy team nervous if the can't spot him.
Claymores in the right spot will piss people of making them play worse.
even if a sniper might be quite useless capping flags he still is a constant threat to everybody. Best use for a sniper is to take out the enemy sniper who hides somewhere on teh map and thus won't get revived.
Feel free to play as a sniper whenever you want.

I can't stand the lame sniper battles on RtJ IO, though.
And it's correct that if one team has too many snipers they WILL loose. How often have you seen all flags capped and just one lonely sniper left alive on some stupid roof. He won't even get near a flag to recap it.

The game is still about winning the round and not about getting points and awards...

                        Eh ... wrong.

Bulletdrop requires a lot more compensation as per these stats ...

I've never managed to miss a dead aim at the head from any range in BF2, I have never experienced bullet drop. But if I get in a jet, it's painfully obvious.

Rofl, omg! That got me off my chair.

If you higher your resolution, the crossair will get smaller, so that might help.

I guess the developers of the game are wrong then we they said there is bulletdrop in the game

Move the mouse, then click when you are aiming at the enemy's head.
Plus who says you have to use the M95 when you have the SVD, M24, Type 88
