yea upgraded to vista about 2 weeks ago maybe longer thinking it would be great but i have had more problems with it then anything. Anyone else having problems with it. Seems battlefield doesnt run very well either regardless of DX10, plus i dont think my 7300 gs is powerfull enough to enhance DX10. Also w as wondering if i needed to upgrade my computer to make BF2 run better here is what i have

1024 mb ram
Nvidia 7300 256mb
350 watt supply
Crappy VISTA Premium

First of all, Vista is NOT crappy. Second of all, you will probably need to update your 7300GS, yes. That card is the worst part in your whole computer.

Vista runs fine here, but the nVidia drivers for Vista are absolutely terrible. The Catalyst's do have their problems as well, but nVidia hasn't done anything right as of now. And yes, a 7300GS is to less to run Vista.

the only thing crappy about vista (last i remember) is that software must be updated to run on it my friend.. instead of 32 bits its a whole 64! woah.. mmm so excited... so you should notice sumthing run faster, suggested that you run a whole whack of nice goodies on your new system. =D

but i didnt know that the vid card had to be vista support capable? interesting.

bf2 doesnt use dx10..and yes vista uses alot more resources, so it will be laggier

probably in DX9 but im not sure about vista, i personally had a 3400+,1.5 gigs of ram, and my 7900 GS and Bf2 ran fine at 50-100+FPS and since that card is equivalent to mine it should run a hell of a lot better than your other card :)

i just got that same card (7800 gt oc) and since putting it in ive gotten worse fps then i did with my 6800 xt (xfx) card

im thinkin my problem is with my PSu and only having 1 gig of ram to handle the higher setting on vista..cause it runs fine on xp..not to sure it could be the vista gfx drivers

I run two hard drives. One with Vista Ult 64 and one with XP Pro 32. I have BF2 installed on both. The fps are the same for both operating systems. Graphics wise they look about the same. The only area where XP seems to be far superior is in the sound department. Vista kinda broke sound cards, so BF2 sounds good on Vista (with an X-fi) but nothing as good as on XP.

Why anyone would chose Vista as their sole OS right now is beyond me. I planned ahead, and bought another hard drive, so if Vista broke something I could run it on XP. One good example is Nvidia drivers for the 8800, and Creative labs for the X-Fi. In both cases the drivers totally suck-*** right now.

At this early stage I would hardly call Vista the "gaming operating system" because it's not.

1) As I have stated in many threads VISTA is 20-60fps slower than Win XP Pro!! (BF2, Doom3, Call to Duty, Half-life, Splinter Cell...etc)
2) It is a memory hog, 1GB RAM just to make VISTA happy forget about running BF2 on VISTA without 2GB RAM. (I run XP Pro and have gone to taskmanager in the middle of a game to see BF2 using 850MB of my 2GB RAM)
3) VISTA likes the newer graphics cards...7900, 7950, 8800!
4) Most manufactures drivers stink right now or do not support VISTA.
(Its not just your graphics nVidia drivers....mouse, keyboard, headset, sound card, printer, chipset, modem...etc drivers too)

I would not recommend VISTA as an OS to any gamer....even the ones I don't like!!! LOL

i would not touch vista for a year beacouse it takes up lots more memory to run and your dx9 games wont be as fast or faster until ati/nvidia release proper drivers for vista then you real need a dx10 card and there is no point unti about the 5thed dx10 come out the nvidia 8800 will not run new dx10 to the max
