BF2 crashes when joining multi-player

Here's my problem. I can get on BF2 and play single player games but if I go to multi-player and try to join a game it crashes to desktop. It won't let me install or uninstall the game either. It was working fine till one day it just started doing this, and it wasn't after installing any mods, patches, etc. I have an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.40 GHz with 1024 RAM. Also I cannot format my computer at this time.

Follow the instructions in the last post. Don't bother trying to tell me that's for a different problem because it's not.
