  • Anyone with "problem connection..etc".. still? cause i need major help.

It all started after that patch a while back.
Now I have good days and bad days...some days I can play, other days its totaly unplayable...like today.

Now for the life of me I cant figure out while it does it. I am directly hooked into my broadband modem which is directly hooked to the wall. Nothign in between me and the line. On top of that its not like Im located out in the woods, Im in a major urban area on the US east coast near Philadelphia.
Im off a "another" fresh game/patch install..with rebooting and defragging.
Ive covered all my bases..there isnt much i havent done. Ive gone to sites that check upload/DL speed and such....no problem there.

Now Im expecting its gonna happen, but want I want to know is WHY it happens. Ive gone to sites that check upload/DL speed and such....no problem there.
I mean is there a way to figure out what is going on? Is there a program to record what the problem is when it happens? Is there anyway at all in the slightest to just figure out WTF is going on...

ok, it says "connection problem" thats a BIG clue

you need to make sure your connection can consistantly send and recieve data with a good ping time. running a speed test to see how fast you can download wont do that.

something like running a cmd window and typing "ping -t www.bbc.co.uk" will show any ping problems. oh and dont ping that uk site if your not from the uk, ping another big site in your county, DONT test on busy sites either.

I just did the ping test with www.yahoo.com 20 times
      never lost a packet.
I am also not running any firewall or anti-virus software while playing. No windows FW, no Norton FW...every single AV program along wiht ever single other program is off. Im running on a minimum 22 process while playing.
Im betting there is nothign I can do.....

so you see something like this with LOW ping times? see mine is pretty much a constant 17ms ?

Pinging www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.224.81] with 32 bytes of data:

It's called you probably have Malware hidden in your registry. Go buy or pirate Bit defender and get rid of it.

I assume that if you have broadband your speed is at least 1mb? anything slower could cause connection problems.
Also run spybot and adaware and your antivirus to keep any spyware etc in check. Close all applications before playing bf2. I only use the XP firewall and it doesn't cause problems but you could try deactivating it.
Make sure no one else in your house is downloading porn on torrent.
If you're directly plugged in to your modem make sure the connection speed is at least 10.0 Mbps per second (anything slower and you're in trouble)
            Reset your modem.
Make sure you have selected the correct connection speed in the in-game menu.
If you *really* want to do this properly uninstall and reinstall bf2 and patch it again.
Make sure your modem is correctly configured and the right ports are open (for more advanced users but with all the info available on the net you can work it out).
Make sure you don't play on servers too far away from you.
If you satisfy those criteria and still get connection problems I don't know what's wrong.

Most of the time its because your PB is out of date. Grab pbsetup.exe from www.evenbalance.com in the BF2 download section. Run it update PB and check it regularly.

                He is 100% correct.

I just checked, and there was a recent PB update.

It something you need to check regularly. If you get ping spikes, lag or "there is a problem with your connection" warning update PB.
