    Drivers...

Set your desktop resolution to 800x600@60hz and see if anything happens. What background programs are running?

        Re: BF2 Wont Start

WHAT BACKGROUND PROCESSES HAVE YOU GOT RUNNING? Sheesh...

Edit: Sorry, I mean to say that most of the time people think as such, but it turns out they have 500 adware programs and dialers running in the background...

            Re: BF2 Wont Start

            Alright, out of those, kill:

            alg
            oodag
            gbpoll
            dkservice
protectx (and the rest of the antivirus/security programs you have)
            gbtray
            mscorsvw (http://blogs.msdn.com/davidnotario/a...27/412838.aspx)
            rocketdock
kbdrv4xp (restart if this kills your keyboard)
            kemailkb
            smsystemanalyzer
            nminexstoresvr
            yahoomessenger
vsmon (kill this by shutting down Zonealarm)
msmpeng (again, disable from the control panel of defender)
            nmindexstoresvr
            nmbgmonitor
            groovemonitor

            Then try again.

Is this a fresh installation of BF2 on a new PC? Are you running a limited user account?

Can you run version 1.0, i.e. without any patches?

                Re: BF2 Wont Start

Run CCleaner and remove all registry issues found and then check for anything to do with Battlefield 2 in Regedit

                  Re: BF2 Wont Start

Alright, I'm guessing you haven't got any profiled up, but go to My Documents\Battlefield 2\dmp\ and see if there are any .dmp files.

If there are any, read this thread: http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94707

Then paste what you get in WinDBG here.

                    Re: BF2 Wont Start

I have the same setup as him, and all of a sudden today... my game takes about 3mins to load past the black screen of BF2 yet the BF2 Demo loads right up. BF2142 has the same issue, it hangs when starting, i'll click task manager and It will say "not responding" Then start after a few mins.

I haven't touched anything on my PC. I have my pc tweaked out pretty much and I'm not an noob to computer's yet I'm very confused what's causing the game to start so slow like this.
