i plan to format my computer real soon, so a quick question, if i format, will the cd key somehow remember this computer or something so i can reuse it? I would certainly hope so o.O...

NO.
You need to go to (registry) HKEY Local Machine => Software => Electronic Arts => Battlefield 2 => ERGC and copy/export that long hash in the default box.
Before you reformat, register your game with EA, this decrypts the key and lets you see it at anytime when you log into your EA account (not BF2 account). -

I've reformatted at least 10 times since I bought the game and everytime I just re-enter the key form the document wallet supplied with the game and it works fine.Comment

You don't even need to re-install the game. Just copy it and run the exported key back into registry. Easiest way I've done many times, I find installing all the mods, boosters and patches frustrating sometimes. And if you have multiple CD-keys it's easy to switch between them.Comment

If you have the CD Key, it's just as easy to do a reinstall. Just make sure you have the v1.41 patch saved on a CD or something so you don't have to spend 8 hrs d'loading it again.
If you don't have the CD Key anymore, I'd try the registry entry option. Otherwise, you probably can contact EA, and they'll have a way to get you a new key. At least they gave me a new one for BF1942 when I lost that one a while back...Comment

I was simply wondering if i could reuse my key after a reformat because perhaps it was a 'one time use' only one...
