I asked a question yesterday about BF2 it was answered Thanks.....Well i have another one. When i click on a server to play online a box pops up and asks for a ip addy and a port # the port number is already there the ip isnt. I havent had this game long and still learning (thats why im here). Also ive tried to update with the patch 1.41 with no luck. After patching it i would try to play and the game wouldnt load. A black screen would flicker and go back to my desktop. Any suggestions would be appreaciated. Thanks....

im guessing that ur hitting the connect to ip button cuz thats what u described happens with the entering ip
also, did u rename bf2.exe by anychance b4 patching and id try a full reinstall -

Not you should just filter servers and search for one in the list.
There are maps that you can play (levels)
Gulf of Oman etc. those are maps
Then the 'Server name' is the name of the server (Which you are going to play on) To join a server simply select or deselect the filters which you want or don't want the server to have. And let the browser do it's work
After that just doubleclick a server or press the 'Join' in the right bottom.

oh ur not suppose to rename it when u patch. i just use to have a problem where if u rename bf2.exe (its suppose to give a performance boost) and then patch it, u would get that black screen and crash to desktop and i thought u miteve had that problem.Comment

Conscript Virus-Ive had that problem also i cant seem to get the 1.41 patch to install when i tried it did what you said..Any suggestions.
As for as getting online to play can you play online without any patches? It still asks for a ip everytime i try to join a server.
I see alot of the same questions being asked in here. If someone knows the answers then( in as much detail as possible )can it be put in a sticky. It would benefit all of us newbies....
