      Re: 2142 vs 2

I was one of those people that was so looking forward to 2142, even pre-ordered and was eagerly awaiting the demo. The demo came out and whilst I was downloading it dribbling in anticipation I checked out the videos of 2142 gameplay. Installed the game and found it didn't work I needed some file so then I downloaded that, and already I'm getting doubts.

Started playing Titan and whilst I enjoyed the ground battles the battle in the Titan was like being in Karkand. So I tried a bit of conquest which was good. After a couple of days all the smacktards started playing and were basically whoring points even though it was the demo soon afterwards I cancelled my pre-order but my wife bought me the game as a suprise so I thought what the hell I may as well try the other maps.

Played ranked online titan and it was just messy, glitchers and padders ahoy commanders moving the titan causing everyone to lag, placing titans over strategic objects to pad some more. So after about 5 hours online I decided the game wasn't for me. The models look rubbish, the maps are uninspiring and yes I agree it IS a BF2 mod. Now when I play on those rare occasions whether I'm in a vehicle or on foot someone with uber unlocks just blows me away I might as well be carrying a water pistol for all the good standard guns are. I'm pleased I didn't waste money on it but pi$$ed that my wife gave EA £20.

They've both got the same type of gun in each one.
The accuracy of the guns is about the same. Though I think 2142's gun are more powerful but not by that much.
        Fast attack vehicles in both
        Tanks in both.
        Apcs in both….
On paper I can't come up with why they would feel like such a different game. So I wonder has anyone ever written on why it is?
Could simply the futuristic look make the game feel so different?
Question. Have you actually played both of these games??
there are no ARs in BF2 that have a shotgun AND a racket launcher built in.
-The AA rocket isnt a 4 rocket cluster, there are no motion mines or EMP nades or mines in BF2 and there is no way of knowing how to compare the weapons in one to the other.
-the gunners are not exposed in 2142, they use weapon cams
-The A8 Tiger tank is a monster and the Nemota is a HOVER TANK!
-The apc's have a gunner position with vastly improved MGs built in the side and EMP launcher with tri-shot mortar
-The gunships are a cross breed between jets and choppers, they can fly like missiles and hover
-Also most vehicles have limited shielding capability
-There are more than 40 unlocks and 3 main weapons for each class, Ex:shotgun/HMG.Advanced sniper rifle/Carbine. H-AR/L-AR.Highpower AA/anti-Air

-The point system is majorly improved and you get an unlock every time you rank up

There are many many improvements over BF2 and the game is ACTAULLY built around the squad system and you can recieve points for following orders and you can place beacons to drop-spawn on. There is cloaking there is sonar detection there are emp weapons, Titan missiles and a slew of vehicles.

Chris_Redfield may just simply suck at armor because if you see an APC, one cannot "simpy Pilum the thing to dust" it takes 4 unlocks to get the weapon and the driver is notified of a targeting, plus there are 4 MGs built in, a powerful MG and emp launcher for the driver and a mortar launcher for the gunner, APCs are not cake.

It seems that these people were playing before they patched things up, because you will find in any server someone who dominates the helloutta a server with an Apc, gunship or Walker( they have twin auto cannons, missiles, and a heavy AA gun on top with Emp missliles.

The game is very hard if you try to get flags/silos by yourself, Teamwork is the name of the game and you get special rewards if you have a good squad.

If you guys actually think that 2142 takes more skill than BF2, you REALLY need your head examined. The only thing that is harder in 2142 is getting more unlocks, but points =/= skill, just how much time you have played.

I've played 2142 and I hated the feeling of being in star trek.

Did I play it a bunch? Not really... I'm still addicted to BF2. So maybe it's just a personal taste thing.

              "jetocopter"
I must be an idiot, because I'm pretty sure I did no such "whining". I play sniper, so I never fly... ever. So no, you are right, i cannot take down a j-10 with an f-35 but I'll bet i could kill you 9 out of ten times with my rifle. does it take skill to be able to kill tanks, copters, and other jets while being basically impervious to everything but another jet and the hit or miss AA? It takes no skill at all, you get to drop bombs while the infatry and tanks can do almost nothing to you. Not so in 2142, a tank is just as likely to kill or be killed by your... "jetocopter". to avoid being killed in 2142 takes much more skill when in the air. I was saying that no one vehicle can "whore" any more than an infantry soldier. Its... balanced. Strange I know. I think cfschris just didn't like the fact that he was no longer safe in the skies in 2142.

Oh and about the unlocks, I have three unused unlocks, I have everything for the recon tree unlocked and I don't feel the need to unlock anything else, I don't play for the stats or the unlocks. I play because i find the experience much more enjoyable, especially when my squad actually follows my orders and spawns on me. Something that rarely if ever happened in bf2.

so you don't get one hit kills in bf2, so much for being a sniper. aim for the head, it helps. I'm sorry if you can't handle rifle sway, i'm sure you don't like call of duty either. too much work to get the shot off i guess?
I takes as much skill to be in the air as it does to be on the ground. the tank is no safer. so yes it does take skill, more skill then it does in bf2.

                  Re: 2142 vs 2

This is a big argument over nothing. BF2142 and BF2 are extremely similar even with the array of new weapons and vehicles. However, there is one major difference that makes me a bigger fan of BF2142 than BF2....

                  Teamwork.

BF2142 reaches the potential for hard, fast and fun teamwork, something BF2 didnt which is quite disappointing especially by the fact that it has more vehicles, better maps, and various power differences that are hard to overcome as a lone wolf. In BF2142, communication is easier, commands are easier to follow, the ranking system is even built around teamwork, and the vehicles including the titan, require teamwork to use effectively. Thats the major difference. Everything else might as well be the same. While DICE has failed in both games to show attention to detail, they finally got the teamwork concept figured out in BF2142 and IMO they did it quite nicely. Thats what it gets down to....matter of opinion.

BF2 any day....2142 is allright, but just gets lame with time....the guns sound like NERF toys and the vehicles bruise like peaches....and i hate walker whores

on the other hand...BF2 has jihadis and i hate those more then anything...

Forced teamwork isn't really teamwork. I don't get what's so hard about joining a squad and following the SL and his orders. The teamwork aspect of 2142 is point-driven. In BF2, when there is teamwork, it's team-driven. Yeah, it matters who you are playing with and on which server, but that doesn't mean the infrastructure is to blame. It's there, but idiots and noobs don't know how to use it on BF2 (especially the ones who migrated from 2142).

I agree 100%, people like me who don't play for points, and jump into 2142, it feels to me like "OMG FOOLOW TIS ORDER OR WE ARE GOING TO RUIN JOO STATS!!1!"

Obviously coming to the BF2 forums, more people are going to say they like BF2 better than 2142. I'm sure if you ask the say question in the BF2142 forums then more players would agree 2142 is better.

In the end it comes down to preference. What game you like better.

I have no interest in futuristic lasers, and walkers/drones etc etc. I really enjoy playing BF2. For those reasons, I chose not to buy 2142.
