      Re: Spotting...

I love spotting for someone, like a sniper. I have my view distance turned all the way up so I can see someone (although I can't hit them) even if I'm not a sniper. And because I usually play as a medic, a lot of the time I also have to watch their back and revive them. Nice way to rack up some points, IMO.

            Spotting is essential.

Anybody who says it's annoying, is nothing more than cannon fodder anyways. Afterall, what is blind infantry if not cannon fodder?

I spot whenever I can. It usually ends with saving a team mate who is oblivious to the fact someone is sneaking up on them or the commander helping me out with arty or supplies etc.

And if this game is about teamwork then everyone should be doing it.

I'm more of a mid-range CQC sniper, and I'm never in one spot for more than one kill, if I'm ever stopped at all. So that's never a problem. Besides this game is 546275 times more fun with music playing. To me anyhow.

When i command I spot everyone that is near a flag or my troops. Other than that I let them be. I agree that if the enemy is not near me, I should'nt be able to hear the spot from a teammate. I think you should be able to only hear those in close proximity to you, your squad members, and the commander on spots.

spotting is MANDATORY in our server
and NOT just from the CO
                        he CANNOT see them all
                        our troops spot all JETS/HELOS/ARMOR
                        ALL THE TIME
and we only spot troops that are dangerous to a teammate
eg spec ops near armor. sniper

Personally I love spotting, and I love it when all the commander does is drop Supplies, UAV and continually spots the entire round AKA doing his job. And I'm sniper mostly, on city maps (let's be honest, mostly Kark) and I spot everyone I see, just to give my teammates a heads up. I've seen people b!tch out a commander because he wasn't spotting, and I've seen people cal lthe commander a noob for "spotting to much" (becaue knowing where our enemy is, is totally a dis-advantage to us) Now I agree the constant yelling is annoying but I play music louder than I have the volume anyway so that doesn't bother me. Your thoughts on spotting?

FYI hold "Q" and left click "spotted" to spot who ever is in the general area of your crosshairs, you don't have to go through the list and find "soldier". Not alot of people spot, and maybe it's because they don't know how? Well, now they do. :)
                            You're new right?
Well I spot a lot, I even got a "spotted" button in my joystick...

Mainly it helps me more then others, I just spot any jet I see, and if he gets away I know where he is.

Sniper is the predominant class I play, and I spot EVERYTHING before I take a shot. I'm not perfect, only like 30% accuracy with my rifle, so if I miss it's nice that my teamates know the whereabouts of the enemy.
