recently i started playing bf2 and downloaded 1.41, game plays fine. the problem is that when i get a new rank and the ability to choose unlocks it doesn't allow me to unlock any of the weapons that came from patches. for example, i can unlock the L85, M95, PKM, etc, but the weapons such as the L96 and the G36E don't even show up on the unlock screen. is there any reason why this would happen? i've been confused about it for several weeks now because i downloaded 1.41 and installed it, but yet the newer weapons do not show up on the unlock screen. and i did search and couldn't find any topics related to this one. if anyone could help me it would be very much appreciated.

You need to buy special forces and play a round or two to get those unlocks.
Alternatively you can go to an Internet Cafe and play a couple rounds of Special Forces there to get the unlocks. Or even give someone with special forces your account details and get them to play a round for you. -
