HDD Trashing when joining server

Hi

I am sure this has been discussed before but I couldnt find anything specific .

When I join a server for the first time , my HDD access goes nuts making the game unplayable for 60-120 seconds until it stops . This only happens on some servers and it seems to only have started after the last few patch releases.

Is this normal ? Is it PunkBuster ? Is there a way to avoid /stop it from happening ?

Am I going mad ?

my pc does this, it only happen once but it picks the worst time to happen. Flyiong a plane for example. Ive just put it down to poor ea coding!

Thanks . Its really annoying isnt it ? I was considering putting in another 2GB or ram bringing my PC up to the MAX of 4GB .

What size page file do you use and also do you let windows manage it ?

Is there a BF2 Optimisation list for XP/ Vista ? I thought I seen something on this site before .

just a thought but have you tried defragging your harddrive, it could take a few hours to get done,

tbh 4gb for this game is a waste of money

Yeah I Defrag often . Just the windows defrag tho , nothing special

I know , 4GB is but since im on Vista , and its supposed to be a bit of a memory whore ...........
