I'm not sure how you figure its a measure of how little you screw around compared to accuracy? Its not measuring accuracy. You can fire randomly all you won't to, and it will not affect this stat unless you actually hit something. Because only hits count, one can fire one million shots in the air without hurting one's AHK.
Hits: 43363
Kills: 27457
AHK: 1.58
^Does this mean I am almost one shot deadly?
Glad you pointed that out. I was counting shots/kills, which would be a rough measurement of accuracy. Hits/kills would...what? Measure the firepower you're using? and, if your playing sniper ALOT, your ability to get a headshot/follow up shot?
In short, I would expect folks that are playing primarily sniper, heavy armor, and aircraft roles to have VERY low hits/kill raitos, followed by folks who are using at mines, shotty's (well, as they're supposed to be used, anyway--unloaded at point-blank range!), the G3, and the L85A1 (powerful, accurate rifles) to follow, followed by those who play support and three-round burst rifles, who get multiple hits, but often fewer kills?
If you go to www.bf2player.com they have that stat on there list....you just hover over the "accuracy" mag glass.
Original account (brianthebold): 2.52 hits per kill
New one (notanewbie): 1.50 (Wow, was expecting higher.....thats with over 3000 kills to ) * Felt this deserved an * as over 1500 of the kills are from air vehicles.
ahhhhhhhhh i found a flaw here. i was wondering why amndunncw's was so good, seeing as his accuracy is lower than mine. VEHICLES. accuracy doesnt take into account things like ground defense, tanks, and stuff...right? therefore it wouldnt count the hits...right?
maybe im not on to something.
ooookay i proved my theory myself. (my stats)
59524(hits) divided by .2849 (accuracy from weapons only)=208929 (shots fired)
actual shots fired=208905...simple rounding in the accuracy caused the difference.
hooray for feeling smart after easy math!!!!!!!
i really dont know why i did that...please, dont flame me

Your right. My bad.
I was thinking shots not hits.
I did do the calculations correct though, and am at 3.4.
So I'm all over the place? Who knows. I'm probably the most conservative when playing infantry too.
Although I do fire at anything in the air UAVs, Helios, etc etc. My squad always lays down as much small arms fire as possible when being attacked (every little bit helps).
Being a squadleader might not help either. I often have very low kills in rounds, and often am scrambling in fire fights to stay alive.
Low is better I suppose, but again, I don't think it's really an indication of a person's skill, probably more his style, or how he plays.
It's hard to put any value, negative or positive, on any stat in this game since it's played in so many varied ways, by so many different people.
guys this method doesnt work. i average 0.6 hits per kill and that becuase such a hugh proportion of my kills are by jets, which arent counted. add that to the fact i constantly shoot jets and helicopters with guns and it shows my point.
Now we just have to figure out what is the lesson here...
One is obvious, I can't do a s.h.i.t with submachine gun. What else? I make mostly body shots, that's for sure. One thing may require more studying. It seems that there is a lot of variation in hit damage. For example by weapons chart, light machine gun makes 30-45 points damage per hit. Still for me it takes more than 5 hits to kill someone. Do you know what factors are meaningful in damage variation. Distance is one but what else?
