Sometimes when I play BF2 it runs fine, but on occasion the game will freeze at random times and sometimes will crash during gameplay. I cant do anything untill i put the computer in standby and once i start back up, BF2 says there was a problem reading the server. I am not sure how to fix this but it is very annoying when it happens. I am running Battlefield 2 all low settings on a Sony Vaio sz230 laptop, 1.83ghz core duo, 1gb ram, 128mb nvidia geforce go 7400video card. any ideas on how to fix this from occuring? more ram?

2GB is always good. Make sure you have as many background processes and automatic updates and scans turned off. Make sure your driver software for video and audio are completely updated. Defrag your hard drive. For better optimization tips, read
Also, make sure other computers on your network are not doing large internet related things like sending or receiving a ton of email. Also Also, if you are wireless, switch to a hardline if you can.
And Finally...... Welcome to the forums :)

My mate has the same problem. He's on a laptop. The game runs fine, graphical wise with no choppiness or lag, but as soon as a millisecond of lag/choppy gameplay happens the game freezes and he has to restart the laptop.Comment
