Making a bf2 mod to late?

Is it too late to be creating bf2 mods, should all mods now be BF2042?

This is a cross topic of mod discussion & bf2 discussion.

Bf2 holds more give way for mods people would like to play as its set in todays world. bf2042 is limited to its ways you can create mods one way or another its going to be futuristic because its how bf2042 has been made.

Imagine a WW2 mod for 2042 which will be made no doubt, its going to look pretty out of wack, WW2 with spaceships, what you did'nt know lol

But as for BF2 its so much more in tune with realistic features. A WW2 mod for BF2 is so much more appropriate than the 2042 version.

How do you make a swat mod for bf2042 you cant, & if you did again its going to look out of place.

Anyway just a thought. Do you think BF2 is going to reign supreme over 2042 for modifications?

PS: Does anyone know what the british SWAT police are called lol, i have no idea.

What the heck is 2042? lol. It's 2142 bud.
Look at it this way, BF2 is 20months old, 2142 is 3months old, yet BF2 have more players and servers on a daily basis. The only MOD worthy of playing in 2142 is the Starwars mod (first strike), in BF2 you have POE2, PR, FH2, DCon and USI (just to name a few).

It's not late at all .. in fact, I think the most succesful mods are made pretty late in a games life cycle. BF2 has sold more copies (= potential players), has more players, and is older - most 2142 players probably aren't looking for mods for awhile, they're yet to completely explore the base game.

Now, where the game is set, and where you want the mod to be, doesn't matter at all. I'd even say that the mod has higher chance of succeeding if it's something way different than the original game. Futuristic mod on BF2 would be more popular than same mod in 2142. This is why I think current mods in BF2 are bound to fail - they all fish from same waters, and aren't really much different from vanilla. PR is probably only one with different enough mindset that it could become something bigger with time - not really big (arcade pretty much beats realism in player numbers every time), but with solid playerbase.

I'd rant more, but duty calls

            Off-topic:

By the way, we still haven't played together. I remember you saying something about wiping a floor with me and doing a really short work :)

I would like to see how good you really are... Either co-op or against each other. You don't seem to use that Xfire too much. Keep it open, I'll seek you some day

That doesn't sound like something I'd say at all.

I may be boastful, but I never boast at the expense of another person.

After the hundreth clan invite, I've started leaving Xfire off when I go to play BF2. I'm afraid we'll just have to set a time and place the old fashioned way; through the PM system on these web-boards.

Its not too late at all. In regards to 2142, how can you mod something more futuristic then futuristic that currently exists in that game? Already have warpin spawning, magic boxes that rearm, heal and repair vehicles, magic insta rezzes by highly trained medics in under 1 second.... And thats in the BF2 game modelled in todays terms..........

Don't get it wrong, it was time when we argued about the cat it was some boast, nothing serious. I really would like to play with u. I was once in same server with u, but my ping was near 200 so, not so playable. <i'll post a suggestion tomorrow, now I'm quite drunk at the moment so later bro...

Make a mod that brings new fun into the game while keeping the PvP competitive side strong in it- how about an UT-esque BF2 game with rail guns and shiznit, long jumps and so on?!
