Is there a way to touchup in game objects?

I find that some of BF2's objects need a bit of touch up (ok I'm bored). A little bit of midtone, sharpening, darken highlights and lighten shadows goes a long way. Problem is I am not sure if the objects in BF2 (characters, weapons and tools) are in .png, .jpg or some other format that only programs like maya can use. Another issue is that if you alter any of the zip files, you change the CRC32 and you will get a "modified content" error in BF2 when you go select a server.

Is there any way to touch up those objects in BF2 with a program like Adobe PS?

These are just an example of what I am talking about when I say "touchup". I don't think *.png files are in game but in BFHQ.

I'm not sure, but I'm curious to find out. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of this, and if this work was done by you, great job. It's the little things that count, and what you did really brought life to the textures.

I doubt you could do that and use it on ranked servers, otherwise people could create bright skins for enemies etc...

i dont mean to rain on your parade or anything but.....why? is that what you think about when you're gunning down jets or doing whatever it is you do most when you play?

Thanks for the compliments, for me I noticed that some of these photos where a bit blurry, lacked either the proper mid-tones, highlights, shadows, etc or all of them. So I did a little touching up here and there and you can see the end result.

I saw you updated the knives...I always thought those were the worst objects in the game. Kinda like they thought of it at the last moment.

I noticed that as well. The definition and distinctive features are there in each object. However, there was no attention to detail as to proper shadows, tones and sharpening, to name a few. Not sure why that is.

EA probably forgot to put in any really extreamly close range weapons (lack of melee) so put that in when someone whined about it (like aways) and did a kinda crappy job

I cannot find any of the in game object images (as mentioned earlier). I wonder if they are in another format? I can get them to appear if I use BF2 editor but I can't seem to find where they are located.

I kinda doubt it. At least on ranked servers. PB wouldn't allow it.
