Never have learned to fly, really.

My tears were shed when I (cough, cough) "hit" someone in karkand with the noobtoob on the other side of street from the explosion...and he DIDN'T INSTAKILL!

Just WTF were they thinking when they castrated the *&^% toob?

    :)

they took all the skill out of the game, making it a pub-nub "whoever gets most points" feast. Stupid babies, bunnyhopping was a FUN part of the game, and they all started crying because people who bunnyhopped threatened their rank D:

I miss those days too. There was nothing to complain about.
All the squads were full, everyone was using vote, and it was always a race to the suburbs, factory, or any flag.
Medics came to your aid before you could call for them, that was Battlefield 2...That was my life.

My favourite thing from 1.0 was pretty much nobody could fly the helis. I came straight from heli whoring in BFV, jumped into the BF2 demo helis and adapted straight away without any probs. Come 1.0 retail I would just stroll up to a heli and get in every round. There were no groups jumping around tk'ing for the heli. In a couple of days I had the BF2 circle of death going which was way different to how it was done in a BFV heli. 14 hellfires was great as well.

I agree with Sloi, that 650m range on the TV guideds was awesome. It was great to fire them off not even seeing a target and go hunting with them.

OMG the BH's were fun. You guys missed out if ya never got to use the cannons of death on the BH. But it was just as fun taking down that ownage machine when it was full. Back then you got a real sense of accomplishment if you took down a full BH on Mastuur.

Also everybody in a vehicle went towards capping a flag. It was great to be destroying everything in the base. quickly circling down around the flag and capping it then off to the next target/base.

Moan moan moan moan whine moan whine moan.

Everything isn't nerfed. There are plenty of good servers out there with good admins that aren't Karkand IO hell. Preventing people from jumping and firing was a good move. Limiting the TV range so that AA on the ground actually stood a (barely still) fighting chance was a good move. The game isn't ruined, stop prattling on like a bunch of pensioners.

The game isn't ruined at all, it's just different then what we remember from the old days. For those who were there will miss it, for everyone else will hear the tales of fun and squad play. It was a new game back then, it was a game where black hawks owned as much as they did in real life. Everyone was a noob then, everyone played for fun. Ranks were hard to get, top ranked was at 22,000,000 points (ROFL) really it was if I remember correctly. It would take 44 years playing 6-9? hours a day to get it lol. We just miss the old days that's all.

best of my knowledge, TOW and TV-guided are 180 degree different technologies. :)

                        QFT.

And yes, there's about 4 servers that still get populated running 1.12. I keep it installed on my other HD to go play when I want to have fun chucking C4.

I'll admit the game has its flaws, some patch related some (e.g. dodgy hitboxes) not, but to say the game is completely and utterly ruined is just over the top.

I started flying/gunning helos (for real) AFTER the nerfs... So it's kind of sad. But what I really miss from the old patches was the ability to chuck C4's... It was lots of fun.

And the Blackhawk too... I used to play MEC in Mashtuur, just to get the Mi-17 and ram Blackhawks filled with people. It was really fun to see people swearing at you after a couple deaths :)

I got a chance to see it all in the golden days before they started handing tissues to all the moaners. Let's just say that you eventually get very tired of "adapting" every single f*cking time when it's the whiners and crybabies who should've done that in the first place.

No matter, not like I can still play this game, considering the latencies I get nowadays with my uber 768Kbit satellite connection.

It makes me almost wanna cry thinking back to the days when BF2 first came out, like Stryker said playing from 6pm-4am Friday night, 11am-4am Saturday and 11am-midnight Sunday, and you still wanted more. The Blackhawk was ACE, Instead of nerfing it they should have just mad the MEC Chopper better. I used to enjoy the fights for the BH on Mashtuur city. Even maps like Kubra Dam people were fighting for the BH. Where have all the servers gone running Operation Cleansweep, Shonghua Stalemate(my fav map), Zatar Wetlands??? Gulf of Oman gets a little bit of play but now its all City, City, City.... Boring. Give us some variety..... If you look at my stats you'll see I play alot of Karkand but thats only because every other map is Karkand.

But it doesn't stop me I'll still be playing for a while to come, we should try and organise a retro night, all install BF2 with no patches and play on a unranked. What do ya recon? I might start a Thread...
