Unless you're running DX10...stay with XP.

xp til it all gets sorted, never get a new os until other people have suffered from it first and the kinks are out

Sorry can't help you, but XP will remain as the gaming platform at least as long as Vista gets SP1. There's hardly support for anything yet, so better stick with customized XP. It even looks better than Vista.

right click on the game icon (in ur program files>ea games>bf2 battlefield 2 icon (not shortcut, should be about 7 megs)) properties, compatibility then click compatibiliy mode for xp service pack 2

Let's see Vista hasn't been released yet. Hence, you are using the beta as your OS? Brilliant!

Understanding the excitement of wanting Vista as your OS its as everyone said probably better if you receeded to XP until Vista has been a little more thouroghly ran through. As any new program its liable to have bugs, just as you have seen so far with no text and such. Yes, a horrible pain to re-install XP, but unless you want to be bug free that will have to do.:hmm:

I have Vista Ultimate Edition (legit) running on my system and BF2 worked only after doing what is quoted above. There is also a check box that you can select to run in Admin Mode. Sometimes that will also fix it. I've got Vista to run every program just fine and when I did run into problems I used the above fix for it.

Running Vista Ultimate for the past 3 months.

You need to run it in Admin mode, disable UAC and maybe in compatibility mode too. AND GET THE LATEST DRIVERS.
