The best encoder? wich bitrate and code

Can somebody with experiece tell me what the best Bitrate and code to use.
to encode a BF2 avi file that was recorded with fraps
(I'm using WinAvi)

i just use windows movie maker, and save the selected frames/file (w/e) to local use 2.0mbps i think, it would usually compress a 600mb file down to 20mb~ and still keep the quality

For internet uploads I usually go with DivX and around 1.2 mbps. Scinto's suggestions are good too. It's all about how nice you want it to look, and how much you care about those suckers with a slow connection. The coolest way to roll is to offer a high-quality download link and a lower-quality streaming link

For the entire conversion process, try to keep the output frames_per_second the same as the orignal frames_per_second it was recorded at with fraps. (This is not the FPS your game was running at, but the FPS you specified in the Fraps program)
