    uh my system is:
motherboard ASUS P4P800se + cpu asus 2.4 ghz (overclocked to 2.8)
    -ati x1300 pro 512 mb
    -1.5 gb RAM
    -hard disk maxtor 150 gb
-sound card integrated with the motherboard + drivers SoundMAX
    -10 Mbit connection
I have no idea how I can run smooth on high settings. I also have norton running in the backround when I play and I still don't get lag :hmm:. My ATI driver version is: 6.14.10.6660 and my Catalyst version is: 1.2.2545.38916 and my resolution out of game is 1024 x 768 x 75 hertz w/ 32 bits/pixels. My resolution in game is: 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz. I can also strangely enough minimize BF2 and then go surf the web and watch videos or do whatever. Hope this helps.

hi there, im also new to bf2, due to the fact that my old PC couldnt play it. But i was wondering if u guys could tell me whether this new rig im getting would allow me to play BF2:

      Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 Processor
      (2.40GHz ,4MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz)
      ASUS Deluxe Mainboard-nForce 680i SLI
      2048MB DDR2 Memory
      500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive
      768MB nVIDIA 8800GTx Graphics
      22" Widescreen LCD TFT Display
      Creative's SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

and another question, has the original BF2 died due to the number of expansions and 2142 etc????

Battlefield 2 has not died at all! It's got about 5-10k playing at any given time. I'm pretty sure that your computer can play ANY game on the market just fine. Nice gaming rig by the way!

Disable your virus scanners and defrag your hard drive. Your PC is more than enough to play BF2. You may have a type of virus or software problem. You also may try reinstalling your hardware drivers and if all else fails reformat. But you DO NOT need to upgrade that PC.
