    Are the "ggs" fading away?

I have noticed for the past month or so, the quality of the games is reducing. I can think of 2 reasons why this could be (one is personal and the other is communal).

    1. I have been spending more time flying jets to earn my vet aviator badge (which I finally did yesterday ). This eliminates another solider on the ground who normally captures flags and tries to reduce the effectiveness of the so-called enemy. But I have noticed that more people don't want to be involved in capturing flags, they just want to fight, especially in jets/choppers.

    2. I think the current community is mixed with a bunch of vets who have played this game for a while and beginners who probably got the game over the holidays. But we all know there is no fair way to balance the skill level for each team.

I have noticed that most servers I join, the teams are noticeably imbalanced and stay that way for a long time. Once in a while I will be on the "better" team, but most times I am not. But I don't find games when you "dominate" the other team or are being "dominated" to be that fun. Sure, it's nice to kick some @$$ from time to time, but sitting on the beach of Oman holding back the US forces gets to be boring after a while.

I just wonder if people care about a good fight or do they just want to win/dominate no matter how it's done.

    Any thoughts?

I must say capin flags is fun, makes you feel like ur on a mission or something but I usually dont care if my team wins or looses, I up in the sky most of the time(dont get me wrong)

My favorite rounds are where it ends something like 3-0. Personally, I have found all the people who are only after points and "ub3r l337 stats" are usually in packed servers, (makes sense) but I like to play server's where maybe only 20-32 peeps are on, then you HAVE to cap or you'll get porked in the *** within' like 5 minutes. You'll be hard pressed to find alot of good rounds on full (or almsot full) 64-man servers especially if you're in flying maps. IO all the way, allthough I have recently become partial to Heli's even the cows, LMAO.

Every now and then you end up in a Squad bent on teamwork, and it's a blast flanking the enemy and re-capping neutral flags, and even going out of your way to give a lone sniper a med pack instead of re-spawning at the same point over and over just to get a super k/d, BF2 would be the best game ever concieved if MOST people played with the team in mind, no contest.

Yea I am mostly up in the air or on IO people don't want to to work together and one person capping a flag against 2 tanks is bs, even as a a anti-tank.

All I know is that the air presence in the game, and the skill of the players flying of course, has increased.

As a groundpounder and AT, I can't really do my job much anymore, I'm getting f35-ed, j10-ed and chopper-ed to death.

The thing that upsets me is that once a server gets into a funk where one team is constantly dominating/raping the other team, the server dies. People leave because they dont want to be pushed back and raped, etc. I join servers all the time that are heavily populated, and then large scale raping occurs and the server empties out. It's a shame really, but I guess I understand why a lot of servers use the no rape/attack uncap rule.

I/O servers is where I've been staying lately, get sick of 90882033479 people waiting at spawn to tk and fight over who gets a vehicle.

Ive been going for my heli badge and Ive noticed you meet 3 kinds of people...well theres a 4th rare one.
First people are complete idiots who cant fly or gun yet manage to keep coming back to the spawn point after they get you killed.
Second type is people who could careless how good you are, they will redline you.
Third type is a combo of good pilot or gunner, If there working together they deserve the Heli so i move along.
The 4th rare type is a good gunner or pilot..very rare to find lately. I always find the gun that likes to fly 3ft from the ground and use the chopper to cap flags as we eat TV missles as we sit by a flag, or I meet the gunner who cannons..everything...except infantry, those guys he just lets run by and hit us with AT/AA missles.

Most people are on IO..but that got real old real fast IMO. All it usually is are jihad snipers, mobile arty (nades) and a million medics. Nothing better then spawning as an engy in your squad of 5 medics...they all look at you like "wtf class is that??". Then I have to think to myself as I watch all the cookie cutter guys doing the same thing round after round "dont you liek a challenge?"

I think you played to much Kark. lol, then again I have too. There are some really good servers out there, like the TPG server (The Perfect General...I think that's what it stands for) I play on it every now and then, and I kept dying like way more than usual, and then I noticed out of the 24 or so people only one person was a medic, and most rounds were pretty even and no one whined or spammed nades or anything. It was really ****ing fun, prolly my favorite server. I'll try and find the IP and edit this post.

That sounds pretty cool. Worse one Ive found was TBC...FF everything.
Guys laying C4 at there feet, no worry of nade TK's so they were everywere etc... just terrible.
Big downside is alot of maps that arent Kark and are running IO are so big everyone just picks Sniper and its always a stalemate or snipers exchanging fire..take Jala. for example on IO.
If you dont have a few bright guys to help get in the back it becomes 2 armies just sniping, chucking nades, and collecting revives.
                    so so so boring.

Re: Are the "ggs" fading away?

Well yeah, there are different kinds of players.

Where you play depends on what you like in BF2. If you like to get points reviving team-mates, then it's IO Karkand 64. If you'd like to play the REAL BF2, with armours, vehicles, airvehicles and more you go to (for example) a Zatar Wetlands.

The reason I mentioned Zatar, is that it's a damn great map. Almost no servers play it (in comparison to other maps), though it's probably one of the most balanced maps there is. 2 MEC jets, 2 (+airfield = 3) USMC jets, equal amount of armour/apc, some AA-vehicles, and above all: equal amount of flags!

I agree 100% great map. As with most maps, hard to find full and hard to find compotent people playing.
See were I went wrong was I played far to much Kark pre-IO. So now all the other maps are in low rotation or underfilled and boring now since having a popular server mean running IO Kark.
I do how ever still and have always will love 32 man Kark with vehicles.
Its even better now since a majority of the community will still play medic and they will be hardly any AT guys to contest flags so I just tank it and rack up the kills.

Tell me about it. It's the most annoying thing in the world to be the only one on a team of 24+ that is playing AT, while I do my best to hold the enemy off, their tanks simply run our team over and cap the flags.

Then I get called a whiner because I say "You guys gonna play some AT, so we can stop their tanks from taking all our flags?" or "How about our tanks shoot their tanks, instead of going for easy infantry kills, and stop their armor from capping!"

You should see the coward armor drivers. They see enemy armor and they drive the opposite way - don't want to risk losing their tanks - or they're hiding behind infantry. Hello, armor is the front line, do your frikking job and get in there.

It's lost on them though... so we lose.

The only thing I hate is that so little people play Zatar.
It was the first map I played and think it`s the best. From now and then I get a good server with Zatar running and the amount of times I`ve played it, it has been fair and balanced, not like many other maps.

I tend to play mostly IO servers now and enjoy a good mix of maps (was playing Gulf of Oman last night in IO... boy that was a change!..lol). I enjoy IO more because I feel it's a more level playing field since there isn't those couple guys owning up with that piece of Armor, Helio or Plane. Obviously IO can be a mess with spammers, but finding a way to get around that has made it much more interesting for me personally.

Squading up with my clanmates and working together as a team to "hold the flank" or "Capture that CP" is so rewarding.
