Memory Sanity Error after I Defraged HD

Hey all!!

I have been playing BF2 online for a week and a half now, have not had a single problem, everything ran smoothly. Today I checked too see how bad my HD was fragmented and after being analyzed it said 44% so I let it defrag(took about 40mins). I then restarted my PC and loaded up BF2. I played a couple maps in singleplayer mode(with my online account) then exited the game. Later after diner I started up BF2 again this time to play Online(Multi-Player) and chose a server I have saved in my favorites. Well after getting 62% of the Map loaded I got a 'Memory Sanity Error', and then BF2 crashed to the desktop. This had never happened until after I Defragged my HD. Do I need to uninstall the game now and re-install it to fix? Or does anyone have any suggesstions? THANKS!!

Really old monitor

PS. I read the FAQ sticky and it said this is due to Serial ATA drivers not communicating properly with the MB(I think, was like 10 mins ago, I have short term memory loss).

I never thought to try another server so I did. I connected and got right on and played, no probs, so I tried another server and samething, got right on and played no probs. Soooo I went back to the server I had error message on earlier(24/7 Wake Island--Insomnia365) and same error message after 50-62% load. Could I have been banned from server?

Probably not. You just get a BANNED message for that.

Make sure your computer is running the SATA drive in Ultra DMA and not in PIO. explanation for this in another thread listed below.

I did try manually updating Punkbuster, but did not help.
I could get on any server and play any map except Wake Island 2007, so I assumed the reason it was corrupt was from me defragmenting my HD(it was the last Map I played before defragmenting). Don't know why it did that. Anyways I just uninstalled BF2 and reinstalled it, now it works fine. The thing I wished I'd tried before uninstalling was to reapply the v1.41 patch, since it contains the Wake Island Map.

From the tech faq in the sticky area:

Problem - Memory Sanity Errors
Cause - Serial-ATA drives and Wrong Drivers
Fix - The "Memory Sanity" error seems to be being caused by Serial-ATA drives not having the correct motherboard drivers installed. Please check your drivers if you are having this problem. This is the only known fix but i do have reason to believe it does not always help, if so you could have faulty RAM, try running a program called Memtest86 to test your ram for errors. Also try removing a stick of RAM from the machine to see if it helps running on just 1 stick of RAM.
