Re: Windows Xp Home -pro
You boot from the xp cd, you dont start windows then put it in your cd drive
put the cd in the drive, restart your computer, and when it says "press any key to boot from cd", push a key and go from there.
p.s., dont get confused, there is no "any" key lol

Re: Windows Xp Home -pro
Yes there is, it's on my keyboard. Unless you have a second serial number (for XP pro only), I doubt it's going to work. You should have gotten XP Pro Volume License edition anyway, no crappy activation process. Of course, it's quite difficult to get...

Re: Windows Xp Home -pro
I thought the any key was the small s? hmmmm.
Try going into your computers BIOS at startup (F2 or Del or something, it usually tells you momentarily on the screen. Calls it SETUP sometimes).
Once in there, set it to boot from the CD. restart and best of luck.
For this kind of question, go to the TECH CENTER in the BF2 Support area.

and it should work by just putting the cd in the drive and booting from it.(unless the bios isnt set to check the cd drive before the hard drive)

Re: Windows Xp Home -pro
you can put it onto 3 or 4 of your own computers but if your reinstalling all the time activate it as much as you like just sometimes microsoft doesnt like seeing it all the time and want you to explain why its been activated so many times

Re: Windows Xp Home -pro
Got it through my university--do you know if I can install it on a lappy in addition to my desktop without running afoul of the Redmondian Mothership? I'm running linux on the laptop currently, but I'd like to do a dual boot config so that I can play Civ III on the road...err, I mean...so that I be more productive if I run into a situation where only Windoze will do.Originally posted by camperstruckYou should have gotten XP Pro Volume License edition anyway, no crappy activation process.
'Pologies to OP for taking thread on a tangent, but this is the first time I've seen someone else using a volume license.
