I team killed an enemy ?

I've been playing BF2 for a couple of weeks and really enjoy the game although I find it quite frustrating at times, maybe I'm just too slow compared to the regular crowd (I'm in my 40's).

Anyway, this afternoon I was playing on Wake Island and I was on the Chinese team when I spotted an enemy running away from my base, he had red lettering above him so I shot and killed him (not often that I get good kills). The next thing I see is that I'm getting a Teamkill message on the screen, how can this be ?

Sounds like the dreaded "Red tag Bug". Sometimes friendlies show up with a red tag instead of blue...

You'll get better as time goes along. I'm pushing 44 myself. Use patients, sneakiness and guile to your advantage.

Red tag has mostly been eliminated but there are still instances via team switching and what not that I have seen it occur.

Exactly. And on topic, I hate this bug, but I have not seen it much recently. A decent human being would realize what was happening, and disconnect.

I'm feeling generous. So, if u like u can come spend some time with me & I will give u some personal training that should make u much better. You will possibly need to be able to change settings in your PC & your game. You will have to download a voice chat program. Either ventrilo or teamspeak, so that I don't have to bite my nails so hard when I teach u some BF2 stuff. It's free & it's a one time offer. It'll take 2 to 3 hours. I think that's happened to me too, I got shot several times by a team mate whilst on a carrier.

Best way to deal with this is learn the uniforms.
IMO its best to rely on knowing what the enemy looks like as opposed to looking for a red/blue tag. Sometimes it does help (locating snipers/distance shots) but in CQC it sometimes takes a second for the tag to appear...and if you wait those few seconds to see a red tag..you could be dead.
