listen hows this for a genral stoyline.

a soldier on the frontline hears that that a major offensive about 150 miles east of his units has put a massive dent in the EU line and has made it to withing 42 miles of the city his wife lives in, the Eu line has bent but not broken. he estimates that the line can only hold for a few more weeks before the PAC breakthrough and flood into the EU territories.
He heard the rumors of what the PAC does to people and cant let that happen to the people he cares about so he must somehow secures command of his unit through any means neccesary and leads them on a long trek to save the city, but a mountain range lies between them and the city directly east, so they must travel north of it, into colder territories and into enemy infested lines.

how will they break the PAC line in a short time when it tok the PAC months to break the EU, will his unit agree or will he have to lie to them....the whole way.

I underlined some inconsistencies. What is this soldier's rank and position? How many other soldiers is he responsible for?

In the US Army, Divisions consist of this:
Division (10,000-15,000 men)
Brigade (3-5 battallions, 3000-5000 men) [Brigader General or Major General commands]
Battallion (3-5 companies, 180-1000 men) [Lt. Colonel commands]
Company (3-5 platoons, 60-200 men) [Captain commands]
Platoon (20-40 men) [1st or 2nd Lt. commands]
Squad (8-12 men)
Crew or Fire Team (team leader, grenadier, and two riflemen)

2nd Lt. requires training from West Point, Air Force Academy, etc.

This is just my research at a breif glance. Anyone who wants to make corrections may do so.

I understand that. It's way too general to give an opinion. Certain details need to be laid out, even in a general storyline, before people can give honest opinions. Aside from that, some details need to be worked out before you can even say that you have a story.

:edit: And if you can give details such as mileage and geography, then information about the main character would be essential.
