    Re: upgrade

PCI-E 16 Bit Express is about the best of the best at this time for video ports other than going Dual card SLi. in which case it would be two PCI-E ports and not one.

On the second question, yes it will fit.

        Re: upgrade

        I like it.

I mean no offense by this next statement. I don't think this should be a project you do unless you have built your own system once or twice before. There are issues when building your own or upgrading your own system that are not friendly or forgiving to first timers. Find a buddy that has some experience in this and talk to them about what you intend to do.

              Re: upgrade

Well, that mobo will not work with your CPU. Even worse is that they stopped making socket A mobo's a long time ago.

Even worse than that is if you do want a new CPU then you will have to buy a new mobo and new RAM. Also, if you go to PCI-E, you need a new video card.

                    Re: upgrade

I would reccomend to get a core 2 duo instead of that cpu. Also remember that you will need a new video card.

and then there is the factor of how big is your current power supply, because this setup is going to suck more juice than your original one.

The new cpu will use less power. Anyways i still say that he should switch to the C2D.

For the PSU, the amount of watts and the amperage rating on the 12V+ rail is what we want.
