    House Rule - No Commanding

I ran across a server with only one rule. No Commanders.

For a Karkand map, it was very interesting to say the least. Stealth and sneaky attacks became possible. I thought it was a lot of fun, you just never knew where you would be attacked from next and the enemy didn't know where you were going to come from next. No one got killed by arty, no uav's, no supplies.

It was just a very fun change from the norm. What do you think? Should there be more "no commander" house rules?

No because it's against the ROE.

The commander mode takes away from the stealth and other aspect of the game, and makes Spec Ops practically useless. As for ROE, it can be an unranked server. Maybe EA should make a commander-less mode :p Of course, this wouldn't really work for vehicle mode since armor campers would go nuts.

It's not a BFROE legal rule. With that in mind, I'd say no.

Its pretty freakin obvious to me. If its a feature in the game, that is available in game, you should be allowed to play it. If there is a rule in the server that prohibits you from using that feature, then its an illegal rule, plain and simple.

A server that has a "no commanders" rule is 1 step away from being a knife and pistol server, which we all know are illegal.

I would have to go thumbs down on a no Commander rule. It is not realistic and the surprise factor is there as well with the artiy.

I love playing a sniper with a good Commander. I agree with what has been said before. It is a game feature so it should be available. There are some people out there I am sure who bought the game mainly because of that feature.

The legality was not the point.

The change in gameplay was. I thought it was a fun change from the norm of being blasted by arty every 15 seconds and that fact that you could sneak around to different places and actually get there undetected was cool.

I am not saying get rid of commanders either, I like to command myself and they are a necessary tool for a serious game.

just like how gameplay was in desert combat. then the kit you pic really has meaning like engineer and support, rather then a majical box from the sky giving you all the goodies you need.

not a bad idea but i dont see it happening. its a good idea for some mods though.

I agree with you man. I played in a server that had this rule, and it made the game very interesting. It was unranked, but it would be nice to see a ranked server that allowed this.

Yes it's against the ROE, but come on.... seriously, it's so much more fun to be able to plan an attack, sneak up on the enemy, and win the round with good tactics rather than the normal "nade everything that you see red on the mini-map" Anyone remember doing that in the past Battlefields?????

Its only against BFROE if the server imply's that there can be no comanders , if the players just play with no comander its no crime , this would be quite a fun game , but its not really worthy of a gamemode...

Stupid digital "laws" that nobody outside of BF2 gives two ****s about aside, it's pretty fun. I think they did that at the CPL for the 5v5 competition.

Re: House Rule - No Commanding

Does roe prohibit kicking players? So if everyone agrees not to command, it's ok? And if someone does he just gets kicked for some stupid reason and thats it? Perfectly legal. Wouldn't it be easy to make bf2cc script to kick commander immediately for 0 mins, just add some general kick message?

Playing without commander is damn frustrating with +16 people. It doesn't mean it's worse than normal though (normal is damn frustrating), depends on the people. And isn't team playing and winning rounds without commander pretty usual on public? In fact, bad commander vs. no commander = no difference. Super commander = total ownage. So in most cases I fail to see the gameplay difference (except Hotel@Karkand where no arty would probably make difference).

There have infantry ladders without commander forever, also some unranked IO servers long before official IO, right from the start actually. But just for pros.

Re: House Rule - No Commanding

lol screw the ROE and it saying no commander restrictions, this game shouldnt have the commander options that it currently does. and i imagine your game was immense fun because you were able to sneak around the map and attack people that werent told you are there.

scanner and uav is just for lazy idiots who are too dumb to look around for enemies.

also you have a big chance that nothing will happen to your server if you run that restriction. ea apparently allow you to restrict things like attacking uncaps and restricting the commander is no different. how many servers have been closed down by reporting an abusive admin? ive not heard of any yet..

I think it would be fun having no UAV's and Arty and Scans.

Whats ROE gunna do...ban ya??? Bwahahahahahahah.....snigger

                              If its fun DO IT.

Its not point whoring or tking, and if you dont like the rule you dont have to play there.
