i have googled so many sites and read so many forums for a solution to the verifying client data problem(takes at least twice as long than loading the map).

I am just simply asking for a link to a topic with the solution, if there is one:hmm:

Do an advanced find. Find Verifying in the title. You will find quite a few threads on it.

The main thing I have found to shorten the time is Defrag, Optimize and make sure you run a SATA drive and it is running Ultra DMA and not PIO.

thx very much, i was planning on getting a new hdd b4, so now i jjust need to find the right one.

also, interesting that the 64-bit servers and linux servers dont have to go thru verification process:)

The non verification servers no longer exist. You go through verification on all ranked servers.

If money isn't an object, go with one of the 10,000 RPM Sata drives. Sweeeeeet!

I don't know if you already know this mate, but it also helps if your punkbuster is up to date.
Google punkbuster setup and download it, run it every few days to keep up to date.

ya, i got th pbsetup, and updated it, haven't run bf2 yet to see if it helped tho.

money is an object so.....how much better/faster is an sata hdd than an ide?

right now i have a 7200 rpm ide, but my new motherboard only supports 2 ide devices, whilst it supports 4 sata devices.

any recommended 160 gb sata hdd's under $100. i found a WD on newegg for $53.

My IDE verification time was 1 minute or more sometimes. My SATA 7200RPM is under 20 seconds. I've heard some people are even closer to 10.

SATA makes a big difference.

If you can't get a 10K RPM, do everything in your power to get a 7200. Otherwise, you will be in this same boat in two months asking what you can do and having to swap out the HD yet again.

If you can get your hands on one, get a gigabyte i-ram, verifying rarely takes over 3 seconds

The burst and sustained speeds in the following picture probably explain why
(top drive is a Seagate SataII 7200rpm drive, the one on the bottom is the Gigabyte I-ram (4gb) with BF2 installed on it)

The burst speed went off the scale and looped, hence there being no blue bar

Not sure how my Seagate speed matches up to others sata performance as it is my first sata drive, but you can test yours by going into:

start - settings - control panel - system - hardware tab - device manager - IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers - right click the channel properties until you find your hard disk and click the speed test button

that gigabyte i-ram is a really cool concept, but out of my price range for now, maybe after it gets cheaper. How much did u get yours for ThoughtForm?

could be handy if you have a few spare old ram modules laying around

wow, i didnt knw you had to put your own ram into it also. Then there is no way i can afford that. still very cool product tho, thx for enlightening me about it :)
