  • Sound problem, need help

I got a new mobo for christmas, but when i plug in the speakers to the back panel sound, there is nothing. I can turn the speakers up all the way and hear a little noise but nothing usable. But, when i plug them into the front audio ports, which are connected to the mobo, the sound works fine. I've upated/reinstalled drivers and made sure all my sound levels are up.

    Any ideas?

Check the pin/jumper configuration for the front panel IO on the motherboard, sounds like you have a jumper misplaced (check the manual for a jumper that disables the rear panel connectors when the fronts are used).

Check the BIOS config too. And make sure you haven't been moronic by checking the windows volume settings (double click on the icon in the tray)
