help! lag prob

I just bought BF2 with Sf pack and I tried to play and it's next to impossible to play in any server. It doesn't matter what server I go in even if it tells me the ping is low. I use tab to check my ping and it's around 70. I constantly have twitchy gameplay where my person lags all the time. I'll watch as my ping reaches to around 500, then it goes back down to around 70. After a few minutes I get kicked by punkbuster for having too high of ping.

So, I figured I would try a non PB server so i wouldn't get kicked. I go in and the game is basically unplayable because my person goes all lag crazy and I can't aim or walk correctly. Even when ping is low the game seems to have massive lag.

i have been playing the demo and I had the rare lag spike maybe every few hours, but it would end eventually. It only seems to happen in the full version.

I've changed the internet setting in-game but it didn't help me. I am now also having strange server list pings. From lowest to highest there are around 100 servers with 0 ping then from 0 it jumps to 800-2000.

Sucks don't it. The servers with 0 ping have 0 players. Bah!

What's your ISP and speed?(cable, DSL)

if u have wireless internet... tht may be the problem... i say MAY because a lot of people complain about it and few do not... also check if u have a virus... and yes... please tell use ur isp

Get another gig of ram. Lower your in game settings a little.

try removing your AV or firewall program, clearing registry and playing after a reset, see if same problem occurs

I went to a site that measures my internet speed.

I have high speed cable from rogers and the speed was measured at 1.6 megabits per second.

I updated PB for BF but it didn't help me.

Do you have wireless? No matter what specialized testing shows, if you have wireless, the latency can be perceived as lag.

What settings are you playing at? And do any other online games gives u hassle like this?

I can play Wolfenstein enemy territory with no problems, and no, my connection isn't wireless.

I'm playing at high settings, but after being so pissed about the ping I tried lowering the settings but it didn't help me.

hmmm actually i just tried playing wolfenstein, in one of my regular servers and it's lagging like a ***** now. I just scanned for any virus programs but found nothing. Unplugging my connection for a bit didn't help either.
