What does rank matter anyway? Have fun playing the game if you have fun gaining those little things besides your name (Main reason for playing this game) then go ahead. Well I don't really care

What do you mean what does rank matter! This is BF2 and a full scale war is on, rank in a game is everything.

No such thing as 6, 7, or 8... 5 is the limit, and extremely rare, at least in US military.

Nothing personal, but if you're goal is - or you worry about getting - the 4 star rank in BF2, you are the biggest nerd out there. Perhaps your effort and time would be spent at more productive things in your life.

Seriously, it's not worth it. I won't look at you on a server with your 4-stars and say "Wow, he's skilled", I'll say "Wow, what a waste of time".

only the top 50 LT. Generals are promoted to 4 star. there are only 50 generals.

Explain to me then please how BF2 currently has 71 4 star Generals?

I believe the top 50 active players (with the required time) are booted up to 4 star. Perhaps if you are still active and not on the top 50 you are demoted to 3 star and if you retire (stop playing) you keep the four star but stop showing up on the top tables.
