People always ask me "is the M16 one shot kill weapon?" I say no, as it is. Then, if they're stupid enough they say I must have aimbot or something.

I would take M16 over any other assault rifle almost any time. AK-101 is a fine weapon, but M16 is the real beast. People always underestimate it and I laugh at those people who use high-damage spray and pray noobcannons :)

M16 is like surgeons knife, it's extremely accurate, it can take two shots in the head anytime at any distance. And the most well kept secret: it does the same damage over any distance, unlike other assault rifles which lose their power exponentially.

All weapons which do over 33 damage to body are one shot killers in the head at point blank, but will lose one shot kill capability over distance quickly.

E: if you think about it theoretically, no other assault rifle has any changes to win M16, except lucky headshots over distance with AK-101 or 47. All other weapons lose their one-shot-kill capability at ~50-70m. M16 kills faster than any other weapon (except G36, but it loses power over distance) in one-on-one cqb situation. Am I right?

Had the original weapon when I was in the service in the Netherlands, the FN FAL. Best semi I ever used. I got all my marksman grades with that beauty :)

I'm not absolutely sure how those behave and I can't do testing right now, but by saying complete nonsense, you couldn't be more wrong. I won't prove it, go test it and you'll be damned.

Actually, I just tested it using two computers on a LAN. It's shenanigans. A weapon in BF2 is unaffected by distance.
I prefer burst weapons over single shot or full auto because of the damage. I find that if I aim for the scrote, the rest of the burst hits the body or head and can kill an enemy in a single burst that way. If it's an armored foe, two bursts may be required. Either way, it's pretty quick. I still think a scrote shot should do as much damage as a head shot, though. Play ROTT and see the fun times roll!

Bonus points to anyone who knows what ROTT is... Cool points subtracted because you're as old as/older than me...

EDIT: By being on a LAN I have eliminated ping as a factor. A chest shot with a/an: M16, AK101, MP5, M24, SVD, all pistols, AK 47, and M88 all cause the same damage from 50m as they do at 250m. The only weapons I found were affected by distance were the shotties. Pump and semi and auto... all were affected greatly by distance. Those were the only weapons for which distance was a factor in damage, though.

Btw did you ever play that FPS Midwinter, artic warfare game with snowscooters and stuff. I think I played that one on the Amiga as well. Probably my first FPS at the same time :)

I LOVE the G3! It was my first unlock! Back then my KD:R was very low. But when I unlocked the G3... I don't find the 20 round to hinder my ability with it though. Just gotta know where to aim.

Yeh, the m16 is THE best assault rifle in the game when you know how to use it.
Since its burst fire its shots are a great deal more accurate, with the other rifles the assault class can get they are all full auto, and even in semi auto they lack the accuracy required to make head shots at more than 50+ feet.
The Ak 101 is great for people who lack the knowledge how to handle the true power of the m16!

But my second choice would def be G3, it is insanely powerful and accurate by standards for any kit, muchless the poor assault kit which despite its pros it receives nothing but spite from most of the G36E + bunny hop = win Bf2 community. And while yes the GL has been nerfed it is still very effective. And the post about the grenade being thrown being more accurate than GL I can see the logic in that to a certain extent but I also disagree. Unlike the normal grenade a GL launched from a m16 for example detonates in impact unless its glanced off. Also, a GL is extremely useful at close range because you can shoot it at someone 20 feet ahead of you for the insta kill, it explodes instantly, not like the grenade that is thrown which rolls around for 5 secs before it goes boom!
