56k internet

hi guys, i have a 56k internet connection and im wondering if this has had any effect on my gameplay like ping, lagg and stuff like that. any help appreciated.


also is there any way to get a better connection?

You will NOT be able to play BF2 online.

If you want a better connection, upgrade to Broadband... Tiscali are doing 8 meg unlimited for £17.99 a month with no connection fee and free modem. i am with them and i always ping about 15 in game

Looks like he is already playing.
I think as long as your ping is alright you shouldn't have any disadavantage compared to broadband users while playing. I don't think the data volume beeing send during normal gameplay is too big. But hey, I could be wrong :)

There is no way you can play with 56kb, thats dialup speeds????

I mean the only thing i can think that your referring to is the speed of your modem, which if wireless might be 56 mb/s not kb/s?

I would be flabergasted if you could play BF2 with 56kb; and yes, there is lots of data being sent, especially upstream.

Hmmmm.....on the back of my bf2 case it says: Internet: 128Kbps or higher

so makka99 tell us: have you played online yet or not?

what are u nuts man that sucks for ppl that have broadband. he will lag bad and so hes harder to kill, laggers also lag up the whole server which gives other players lag as well which sux but then again there are some 56kers that dont lag to bad if he stays in servers in his country it shouldnt be to bad

LOL,you should just get broadbrand,unless there are some servers in your country where you can possibly get good ping.

But when i bought BF2 i had 56k,Tried playing..lol,all it did was lag to be hell,and shut down BF,so i then got broadband.

yea i play online perfectly but m ping is sometimes not good, and i do have broadband

my computer receipt also says it comes with a 56k internal modem but i have 1 on the top of the comp? wots with the "internal" stuff?

That's talking about the internal 56k modem that you could use. It seems that you are already using a broadband service, so, no worries.
