    Crackling sound..

I have been running the patched game (1.4) for a week or so now but sometimes i get what seems to be a bad sound connection, crackling and stuttering, its hard to hear the game, although it continues to play OK whilst it is happening.. It can happen from the start of a session so i dont think the graphics card is overheating.. Also when i quit the game, it can sometimes take as long as 10 seconds for the music to stop playing after the game screen has closed...weird... Any advice thankyou..
PS.. Its the best game i have ever played... !!!!!

    Toshiba Laptop P105-S7022 Intel core 2 Duo @ 2Ghz,
    2Ghz DDR2 SDRAM,
Nvidia 7900 GS with 256 Mb GDDR3 Ram
    200GB HD (only 4200 spin though) :-((

    Re: Crackling sound..

Try a defrag. The music continuously playing is just a subject of the speed and probably not related to the crackling.

Look for updated sound drivers for your toshiba at the toshiba website.

    Experiment with direct X speed.

Go to your RUN command and type in DXDIAG. When it opens, select the SOUND tab and throttle down the hardware accelleration to it's lowest setting (not disabled).

This is an EA fix for some specific sound issues but it shouldn't hurt for you to try it on yours.

Thankyou for the advice, i will check things out shortly.
Is it possible to run the game from a seperate hard drive (because i only have a 4200 rpm on the laptop) to avoid having to replace the original internal HD with a faster one.? Thanks again..

I am having the exact same problem on my end. It does not effect game play at all, it is just annoying. I will try throttling down the hardware accelleration. I only have integrated audio, not sure if that matters?
