Its not dead, but last time I read about it, E3 was going to be a strickly "insider" event, with a much smaller magnitude. Basically, if you considered, as a gamer, to put being to E3 as a milestone in your life, you can forget about it now.

Which is why I was annoyied about the decision although I've read around on the reasons and they seem valid but I really wanted to go to E3, oh well QuakeCon will suffice.
