Battlefield 2 loading question

Can somebody please help me? I have a very fast system, a core II duo,
6600E. An ATI 1950XTX graphics card and 2GB corsair ram. When I first load the game (which is on high settings), it takes between 2 to 3 minutes to load the first map. When the server changes to the next map, it loads in less than 30 seconds. Is there any way of speeding up the initial loading time?

Does it say "optimizing shaders" at the bottom of the screen?

No. It seems to hang at approx. 50-62% loading geometries.

Your drives are probably SATA. Make sure they are running DMA and not PIO and also defrag your drive for better performance. Here's a good guide for optimizing for speed.

i had this problem once before i change my graphics card drivers and it went alot faster
