..."Game will start when X more players join"...

I would assume they do not cover that. I was wondering because i have 2 accounts simply for idling in a server while it's below the required players. That can't be illegal since the server is not ranked until the player number is satisfied. After the number is satisfied, i quit the other 2 accounts. (No its not for my server - its for one of my fav. servers).

right?

if i "stat-pad" before the round starts - is that against the RoE?

I wouldn't think it counts, your not gaining any army time or stats until the round starts.

EA lists this under server policies:

"sv.numPlayersNeededToStart = (6 for maxPlayers 16, 10 for 32, 10 for 64)"

1.1 Server Configuration

1.1.1 Ranked Servers have a number of settings hard-coded so that users cannot adjust them. These settings are all set as below to keep the competition on Ranked servers balanced across all providers:

minPlayers: 16+ (minimum server size is 16 players)

sv.password = “” (empty string - Ranked servers may not be password protected. Ranked servers are intended to be available to all players.)

Those rules are from before 1.3 patch AFAIK..

Point's doesn't count until the round has started. So I guess not.

You are using the two extra accounts to get a server to the point it can be ranked and you want to know if that is OK?

Personally, you own three account so I don't see an issue with it.

well yes and no. I don't stat pad with the accounts. I simply "slot-pad".

Sometimes my favorite server has 0 people in it. Rather than joining myself, i'll join myself and my 2 other accounts (on my other 2 computers each with their own legal copy of BF2).

This way - people see 3 people in the server browser which means they might be inclined to join and make it 4 people, and it gives me someone to shoot at (or another computer for good camera angles during screenshots).

So when the server starts, I leave the other 2 accounts in for abotu 5 minutes, and then remove them.

I leave them on until I can remove them without putting the server back in "un-ranked" mode. So I don't pull them IMMEDIATELY when ranking starts - they sit at the spawn screen.

If I bought 2 more copies of bf2, and these accounts are seperate, why would I be worried about their stats getting reset?

I think that since you bought the other two accounts, it doesn't matter if they sit idle in an unstarted game. I don't see any problem with those two accounts just filling slots in the server to invite more visitors.

Running them (say only 5 people join, with your two idles, and your playing account) might be seen as unethical, but I don't know where ROE fits into this. I see idle players on servers all the time, even for hours at a time. Could be the same thing, or just someone who didn't log off before they went to work or school.
