    Taking breaks

For the past 2 or so weeks I have been doing worse than normal.

I get the points for helping the team, but it seems like no matter what I do, where I go, how many times I hit someone, I only end up dying.

For example, I can turn around a corner and waste not even 4 DAO shells before that medic smokes me (full health I might add!).

It seems more and more like I'm getting out-smarted every-which way I turn, too. Like I can have a perfect kill on a sniper in say, Karkand's Square, the sniper runs off and I go around and around the square building looking for him, checking my flanks constantly, yet he runs up behind me with a knife and slits my throat.

It's kinda making me heated and tense, should I take a break from BF2? Do taking breaks normally help you?

Nah, Just try something else for awhile, like piloting a jet, or a chopper if you do not usually do that. Or use kits that you would not normally use, should help you snap out of your funk.

Maybe its time to upgrade your vid card or go get another stick of RAM. Turn down the video settings while upping the screen resolution (poor man's upgrade). Get a copperhead mouse or a nostromo game pad. Change gears with something to give you a bit more advantage out there... might snap you out of it.

Yes, because the solution to preforming poorly in a game is buying more stuff for your computer.

            Re: Taking breaks

sometimes taking a break is the best thing you can do.. come back with a fresh mind. Look at my case, im home for break and am unable to play BF2 until the 17th.. almost a month without playing.. ! Anyways I always find BF2 enjoyable when I come back from taking a "break".. seems like certain things have changed or new things were added.

Try playing a different kit, different map, and a different server. If I play city maps a lot and start doing less than I think I should I will usually go and try and play chineese maps. Usually after a couple days of chineese maps (usually 10 or 20 rounds) Im ok again, or as ok as I get.

The last time that this happened I played 6 or so rounds in a humvee/vodnik, running people over and doing anything else I could in that vehicle. I didnt get a lot of points but I did break the run of bad luck. If all else fails I would take a break, go see a movie, etc. Good luck. . . . . . . . .Red

That is another good idea if you get wore out of one kit choose a diffrent one if you havent used the AK series or the support guns I would recomend them they are good guns.

It could be used as a good excuse :)

Turn off/lower your shadows and shading elements. Besides lowering the stress on your video card, it makes the enemy easier to spot with no shadows on for them to hide in. Kind of like a poor mans cheat. Shadows are good for eye candy, but bad for spotting enemy.....

                      Re: Taking breaks

You happened to only mention one map. Do you play city maps exclusively? Or worse (from a variety standpoint not preference) IO city maps?

As was suggested , you may not have to take a break completely just play differently.

Try squad leading, and I don't mean "leading" a squad chin first. Stay alive, only engage the enemy once your health is in imminent danger. It's a completely different way to play, you don't even try to kill anyone for the most part. Hang back, find good spots that give your guys cover when they spawn on you.

Take the orders the commander gives and try to accomplish them. Or give orders of your own. Get your guys supplies and UAVs when they ask (if possible).

Defend. That's another good change. If you feel like your getting the short end of stick rushing, try defense for a while. Pick a spawn that is often attacked by the enemy and defend it. Intake at Kubra Dam is fun. Once the US forces have it MEC forces are very motivated to take it back. Or vise versa, defend the Intake from the US taking it. You'd be surprised how much fun it is letting the enemy come to you. If you do it alone it can be very challenging. Mine off the main entrances and patrol in the tank. Kill the spec ops coming in to take out assets (if MEC). If US, defend and go as SPec Ops and take out the MEC assets while it's not under attack.

Same goes for TVStation at SP. Important spawn that needs to be taken or defended, no matter what side your on. Get to know all the in and outs of how to defend it or take it.

I've spent entire rounds never leaving either one of those spawns and although there are lulls in the action sometimes, a lot of times it's intense fighting.

Or just take a break if you feel the need too.......

                        Re: Taking breaks

I'm starting to have a similiar sort of problem as yourself, i have played nearly everyday for 3 weeks now whilst on on holiday all be it only for a couple of hours a day. I've got over 5000 kills with a sniper rifle only and thought i'd play another class as i need basic knife and pistol for promotion.

I play J'bad most of the time and this is ok for sniping but as soon as you get any where else on this map it's a grenade fest! i must have been killed 85% of the time on this map with nades. And as you say no matter what you do it normally ends in death. I have a fast system but if i meet another enemy soldier of the same class as soon as we start firing i put 5 rounds down he fires 1 and thats it. As has been mentioned you can play to much, so once i'm only playing when not working should get on top again.

                          Re: Taking breaks

I get these days too. When no matter what I do, I cant get a kill. It's usually because my mind isnt concentrating on whats happening, and my heart just isnt in it. It feels like Im playing BF2 out of habit, not because I want to. When I've been craving it, I play very well.

Sometimes I come here and read a bunch of threads, to get me in the mood, and then play.
