Changing Controls hangs for 5-10 secs

Hey guys, new to this forum, so before I begin let me post my specs :

Asus P4P800-E Deluxe
Leadtek 6800GT
2 Gigs Mushkin Greenline RAM
500W psu
1 320GB SATA WD HDD
1 250GB IDE HDD
P4 3.4GHz
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
Logitech G15 keyboard
Logitech G5 mouse
Logitech Extreme 3D PRO joystick

So, onto my problem. I recently reinstalled BF2 and got back into playing it a little bit. The only problem I have is when I'm in the 'Control' Menu when I click, for example, the helicopter control for steer left, the menu freezes for 5-10 seconds, and the only way I can set the control is to constantly push the button I want to set the control to.

This happens with ANY control I try to set. I havent figured out what has caused this. It never did this prior to the 1.41 patch. It's quite frustrating because to set controls it takes FOREVER.

I have the latest drivers for my mouse, keyboard, video card, sound card. All my devices. However, I don't install any updates from Microsoft. I just thought of that while typing this, would that have anything to do with it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try another reinstall, delete your profile from My Documents and profiles and retreive it

Thanks for the reply. I tried a reinstall and same problem. Here's a little more info. This exact same thing happens with Battlefield 2142. So it sounds like something on my end, but I cannot isolate the problem. Some sort of conflict perhaps? I'm just not sure.
