2 Computers behind router = Fail!

Okay so me and a friend thought it would be fun to drag his computer over to my place and have some fun playing BF2. We hooked everything up to a new router, we both have internet working fine but then the problem pops up: Whenever we are in the game the router kicks us out of the game after a short while. We have the same problem with C&C Generals.
I have done a load of searching on this matter but I havn't been able to find any concrete solutions to it. I know it has something to do with the game using the same ports and stuff, but how would I go about fixing it?

My config:

Cable internet entering trough modem
|
Modem connected to a Belkin 4-port router
|
Computer 1 + 2 connected to the router.

Any help would be appreciated :).

well ill try and help you as i use the same set up myself for when me m8 comes around.

i also have a cable modem pluged into the wan port on my router and both pc's pluged in the router with rj45 cables.

make sure you run network set-up on both pc's,name you network somthing like bf2home(or what ever you want)

be sure the same name is used for both pc's

you may want to try and open up the ports on the router for c&c if you playing lan games.

i have to open various ports for the lan games i use.

also you both have to own a differnt copy of bf2 aswell or you will get kicked.

if i think of anything else i post,but that a few basic things to get you going.

I believe you need to use the port override function in Generals. It's a real ***** to set up with a router from what I hear. Set one PC to use a different port.
